seriously could you be so stupid?
    taken from sapol news release.

A man was arrested yesterday after repeatedly exceeding the 25 km/h speed limit at road works on Alawoona Road, Munno Para.

At about 12pm police were performing speed detection duties at road works on Alawoona Road.

A 26-year-old man from Munno Para was detected speeding through the road works on three separate occasions within an hour, at 42 km/h, 40 km/h and 40 km/h.

He was issued expiation notices for the first and second offences.

On the third occasion he was arrested and charged with Exceeding the Speed Limit.

The man will appear in court at a later date.

Speeding at road works creates a serious danger to workers on a road work site, and police actively target speeding motorists at road works

Usually it's 40 when i pass road works but I'm not surprised at all here that 40 sign means keep the before posted sign for 99% of drivers.

Most of them are in SA Grennan, I can't see much point in it being so slow. It's a real headache on the highway too, goes from 110 to 25 in a kilometre, and stays at 25 for eternity.

Spose the same could be said about our school zones, which are 25 as well.... seems like the optimal cruising speed for peds if you ask me lol

Holy shit. ...and I thought Vic was bad.

40kph when theres not a worker in sight. Cops used to sit on the Monash freeway at like 10pm and get people for going through the roadworks (that lasted about 30km).

25kph??? Thats crazy slow. Although in Vic if they put one witches hat on the side of the road they change the speed limit to 40km/h for 10km in each direction for 6 months until they send a team of workers to retrieve the witches hat.

I have no issue with slowing right down when there are people working in the area but the way road work speed limits are managed in the state is a joke

road work speed limits are bullshit anyway.
They ALWAYS givethemselves at least 1 lane barrier between them and the traffic and most of the time there are concrete barriers anyway.

99% of the time i drive through roadwork zones and there is no one there at all... 40kms is bullshit, 25kms even bloody worse.

Dont blame the guy for speeding at all... although he broke the law (albeit stupid) hence he gets the fines.

Fines? he just earned 9 points in 1 hour and a court case, I think it is bye bye licence for atleast 3mths + fines.
and I couldn't agree with you more about the posted limit for SA roadworks and school zones 25kms is stupid.
recently I was in vic and the roadworks and school zones are 40kms and the school zones don't have flashing lights like here.
another interesting thing in vic and nsw the ZEBRA crossings, they would be pedestrian deaths in SA we only have them in car parks here and nobody pays any attention to the simple rule "pedestrians have right of way".

FFS... WTF is wrong with SA autorities

Just to give you guy's in SA a reality check... The average Human male with average fitness can run @ greater than 25km/h while a sprinter/400m running can average 34km/h while Usain Bolt has been clocked @ 44.72km/h.(Running - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

All this means the average human being would be booked for speeding @ road works in SA.

Isn't there a clause (well, not really, just a great lawyer and lucky case) something about getting caught twice or more in the same spot at the same speed within a tight timeframe? You can argue that your speedometer was out. It's happened to more than one of my mates, however they were caught by speed cameras and they never spoke to a copper.

That said the man probably admitted to speeding etc.

Now I know why we keep getting slower speed limits, it's so we can take in the scenery which makes our journey seem shorter.

speed limits are there to be obeyed. If you don't think they are appropriate, speak to your MP or alderman. In the meantime, obey them, or man up for the consequences. Anyone as stupid as the person described in the original post ought not be allowed on public streets. Roadworks speed limits are, I have noticed, very strictly enforced in Queensland. As frustrating as that some times is, road-workers have the right to go home in one piece at the end of their shift.
