    Default Flexible LED Strip Lights

Ok so I am making a costume for next month's Supanova event, & I am going as a Helghast Soldier from the game Killzone.

I need to find some LED strips I can glue to the inside of the goggles I have so when I turn them on, the eyes of my goggles glow. If all else fails, or It blinds me, I'll just stick orange celephane over the lenses lol but I would prefer them to glow.

Anyone know where you can buy these LED lights locally? I've tried eBay but they all come in like 500m rolls and are from Hong Kong, and since I pretty much have this week and next week to get ready, I don't have time to buy from overseas.

Anyone know if Dick smith or anyone sells them? I know they have LED's but I haven't seen the strips anywhere.

    Like these but orange:

This is the costume I am making:

    RGB Lighting
very expensive, but you can make literally any colour you want.

you could always check ebay, but yeah. might not be very cheap.
also needs to be controlled, and have power supplied. so might mean bypassing the 240/24 transformer if you just have a battery pack.
how about we make the pedals out of sticky rubber and the shoes with steel spikes. at least my shins would like that

Shit that is expensive considering I only need a strip of like, 4 maybe 5 LED's. I might try to find a Dick Smith & may have to just wire up a few single LED's

yeah that would be the other option. wiring up a few LEDS.

could go to Jaycar or somewhere of the like. they should have all you need.
and it would be pretty cheap aswell.

but yeah ribbon LEDS are not exactly cheap

I stopped in at Jaycar at Aspley and the guy who served me is one of the judges who does the costume judging at supanova lol, he reckons I would get utterly blinded by LED strips and to buy "EL Wire" from this website but it's like $25 not including postage, and I dunno if I want to pay that much for something I won't even use 100% of, and only use like, twice.

as an old school gamer who has been gaming most of his life....

please for hte love of god can you people please stop with your cosplay!

If only it wasnt illegal to run over every sweaty nerd who dresses up as masterchief or a nintendo character..... your why I cant go to conventions i'd murder you all.

And yeah anime cosplay people nuff said.

Anyways bro dont go with the flexi LED's im guessing your doing the red eye helgast thing? im guessing your not going to build the helmet your just going to modify one you have? what your planning to do will blind you...

if you rip apart of a lot of stuff that uses bright LED's your actually not seeing the LED your seeing something its refracting off you got two ways around this and have to play around.

You can get a piece of perspex cut it out to fit your goggles and fit your bright LED at the bottom or top, u might have to use concave perspex, and wrap the LED up so its only shining into the perspex. You will have to play around with this..... only time i've done this was to build a lightsaber for a costume when I was 10.

just got a tube of perspex and at the bottom had some led's and a battery pack gaff taped it to a metal cylinder job done.

Thanks for everyone's help, and those who said I couldn't do it or get blinded, well...

    BOOM.

    And yes, I could see.

And yes, I just used single LED's wires in a semi-circle.

And yes, I got alot of attention.

and I got on TV. And on the Courier Mail website.

Supernova expo | Supanova geeks and freaks | Courier Mail

Oh yeah, Acex1138, a convention without Cosplay would just be like going to a massive Supermarket for anime stuff.
