Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone on JC from Brisbane owns or races Go Kart's?
I am picking up a Go Kart tomorrow as a bit of a side project and am interested to see what other people have got. Looking for experiences and opinions.
Thanks guys.
I've often Thought about buying a go kart to work on / have joy rides around the street lol, but I never got around to doing it.
Where'd you get yours from? Was it expensive?
Hope you have fun with it

Nah mate just a cheapo off the net. Has a worked yamaha 175 2 stroke and apparently go's well over 100km/h with a big fella on it. All I am afterWill post some pics up when I pick it up. Looks a lot like the same black plastics in the link you put up but mine will have a different frame.
We need a JC go kart day!
Haha makes me want one again :P Yeah imagine rocking up in our cars towing trailers and have a JC car meet in a carpark, then afterwards set up cones and have a go kart sesh :P
If only I had $1,500 to spare... I'd buy this!

I used to race, Dont drive on the streets only idiots do that, Go to a real track much safer and it doesnt wreck your gear.
As for karts well it depends on what you want to do for what you buy. Im not 100% sure what tracks are in the area and what they let you do but a good start would be a kart with either a yamaha S (clubman) or yamaha J (national) engine on it. If you buy a shifter or something with a strange motor you will be severely limited as to where you can run.
Isnt there a big kart track next to the drag strip in Ipswich? Willowbank?
Way to burst my bubble! lol The one I am looking at getting is a shifter with a strange motor. If shifter means sequential shift then it is a shifter, I think it is a 5 or 6 speed box. She is a bit of a cheapo so I don't expect it to be up to race spec or anything like that.
Won't be taking it out on the streets but would love to find a decent open area away from everything to have a play. It comes with road, off road and wet tyres so it'll be interesting to see how it go's. Am not too fussed about entering proper events or competitions but just want to have a play.
Next step will be to see if the damn thing fits in the back of a VR Ute, failing that - anybody selling a trailer?
Start saving!
Will look into it, cheers!
Yeah shifter is anything with a gearbox. Unfortunately it will limit your options on where to drive it. Willowbank is an AKA track so you will need club membership and a licence to drive there.
Sorry to be a bit of a downer but I wouldnt want you to spend your money on something you will stuggle to find where to drive.
