Default Disgrace: Worker told poppy is 'offensive'

What a total disgrace that a worker claims he was been given a written warning by his company after refusing to remove a Remembrance Day poppy because his work mates found it 'offensive'.This make may blood boil.

A similar complaint was raised by a few men of a certain religion at a Toll depot just this week, I wonder if it is the same group.

"I have been wearing it for many years now, it's a tradition I like to do and pay my respects to the people who have fought on my behalf and my family's behalf and everyone's in Australia, and I will not be taking it off."

    good on him.
    I wouldn't take it off.
Makes me wonder how it was offensive...

Two faces of Armistice Day: Boy brimming with pride, fanatics burning with hate | Mail Online

Seems to be the religion of peace is fast becoming dominated by hate and anger. And to those "peaceful and law abiding muslims" you are letting your religions name be dragged through the mud. You are in a unique position to shut these people down, as they won't listen to "infidels". That's so long as you do abhor their actions.

What's funny about that picture of the younger muslims is that most of them are born in the uk.I can't see why they hate it so much

There could be a myriad of reasons, but none of them would be sufficient excuse for the hate and anger they perpetuate. We think of ourselves as the most intelligent species on this planet, but in reality there isn't much that separates us from the disorder and chaos of the rest of the animal kingdom. You can choose what actions you take, you alone are responsible.

If anyone in my workplace said to me they found it offensive Id punch them in the face. Things like this is a disgrace. It does not promote war or violence in any way. It is a day to remember those that lost their lives fighting for our country. End of story

I have no problem with people of any religion wearing whatever they please, that is their right in this country to wear whatever they want. I would expect the same level of respect in return.

what does it have to do with religion anyway?
its just a small thing of peace and remembering those that have lost their lives.

all you have to do is be silent for 1 minute its not that hard.

hell at work we had the alarm sound so we knew it was 11. then the last post was played.
i have never heard a building site that quiet before it was so scary but it was all as a thing of respect.

until someone can explain how rememberance day has anything to do with religion they can jam it where the sun doesnt shine and keep their stupid ideas of non relating things to themselves. and for crying out loud its just a poppy its like if someone wears a little brooch thing for some charity thing like a cancer awareness thing.

Not wanting to make it political either, but we are being controlled by minority groups more and more in this country.

As said above by Drawnnite the poppy has NOTHING to with religion what so ever. The muslims have made in to some missguided religious debate, by them the protesters setting fire to poppys near Hyde Park and breaking the two-minute silence with chants of 'British soldiers burn in hell.

I’m sure the media milked it for all its worth and the total amount of actual people involved in this is minimal but those who are, whatever they think of the occupation of their country, should actually think about the message they are sending.
It’s a bit hypocritical to whine about an injustice in your own country by offending those in another you have chosen to live in.

Being mad about those muslim cockheads is an understatement. If they hate the British army so much then why dont they piss off back to their own homeland.

should have come to the building site i was on.
everything went silent, even all the wildlife around us.
it was like a picture, frozen in time.

but yeah i find it disrespectful when people talk during the silence.
just have to look at the anzac footy match for the minute silence, its not that hard for 1 minute to stay silent!

but ill say it again. the poppy has nothing to do with religion.
if your angry by someone wearing a little red flower on themselves then you have problems.

They should take all those protestors, bundle them together into a shipping container, and drop them off at downtown Kabul. Love to see the look on their ungrateful faces then.
