Basically as the title says. I'm borrowing a ute tomorrow to move 700kg, and I'm pretty sure the ute is either a AU or a BA.
Did Ford make all thier utes in that range capable of 1 tonne payloads, or where there model that could only carry less?
Cheers.
EDIT: I should add that it is not the walled tray, its the aluminum tray with the fold-down sides. Don't know if that make a difference.

I'm pretty sure you had to option them out with 1 tonne suspension, I know I had to with my BA.

From what I can gather here, all the cab-chassis utes had a 1 tonne payload capacity unless you got the sports suspension pack, like the XR6 or XR8, and I'm sure its neither of these.

i was told when i was buying my VZ one tonner that the fords weren't rated to one tonne unless you optioned up the suspension or something
they were called a one tonner but in reality they were only a 3/4 tonner.
that is why i am stuck with a commodore one tonner because they can carry a tonne
The XR6/8 are only half ton rated. Any AU/BA can have the ute well removed, and a tray fitted, bu that doesnt make it a 1 tonner. Suspension specs dictate that.
In saying all that, one of my ex places of work had a 1 ton panel van, but it dragged its arss with only 400kg on board. We had to get the rear springs reset.
howd you go today hauling ass?
1 tonne BA tray, with 1.3tonne of readymix cement.. little slugish but just took it easy.
It went well, I looked at the car build plate (?) and it says GVM of 2800kg, so I'm sure it was a one tonner.
Couple of pics, so the lathe was 600kg, and the 1-tonne engine crane was 150kg. I'm surprised that the hydraulic arm on the hoist is rated to 5000kg, when the arm is only rated to 1000kg in its shortest length and 250kg in its longest length.

check the amount of leaves in the spring pack and check their condition.
if the springs have a bit of wear and have lost their spring they will NOT hold up to their capacity.
Should also check whats written on the packs, if they are factory spec they will have a part number you can ring up a ford dealer and check capacity, if they are aftermarket contact the manufacturer.
Failing all that you can measure them up (measuring ALONG the curve of the main leaf) from eye to eye, the thickness of the leaves, how many leaves there are.
You also need the camber (this will tell you where they are set to / whether they have sagged (lost their spring).
Take all this info and call a suspension place like pedders or industrial springs and they should be able to tell you what your dealing with.
