pretty much i want to ask for your opinions on this matter.
ok so i have an exam coming up which requires the use of australian standards to work out many various aspects off a plan.
so i would presume that the whole test and drawings would be done to the australian standards including the graphical symbols and plans (there is a regulation standard on this that i do want to get)
so would you accept the exam paper if it has not been done to the correct regulations as set out in the standard?
eg a switching symbol is ment to by the standards be a circle with an L shape coming out of it. would you accept it if it is a s in a cicrle (imagine copywrite symbol)
also would you accept some freehand drawn picture that looks like scribble instead of a proper plan?
for example in the workplace i am given proper construction issued plans/drawings to work off. not some grade 2 equivilant picture
i only ask this because when given stuff to "practice" ive been given some other plan that has not been done to the australian standards.
which did not even come with a Legend/Key to understand it.
so could i reasonably refuse to sit a said exam until it is corrected if it is not done to the correct australian standards (which the exam is revolving around)?
or what are your thoughts/opinions on the issue?
I wouldn't accept it. It may cause more hassle than it's worth to say something instead of just doing the exam anyway, but if it was me, I'd pull them up on it, because it could hinder your results if their exam isn't even following the right standards.
I could be wrong, and there could be nothing you can do about it, but I would at least say something about it.

depends how the question is worded... to me your better off just doing the exam and then lodge a complaint about it straight afterwards.
then if your results are crap you can go to them and tell them its bs
Could be part of the exam you know. See if you pick up on it. Just make them aware go from there.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
Protest early and run the risk of not sitting and therefore failing. Protest after and make a suscinct note (not a smartarse one) on the paper questioning if it complies.
I'd just accept it. I don't know what industry you are working in but after 10 years in the metals industry and another 7.5 in building and construction you would be amazed what has been and routinely does get built from sketches on scraps of paper and marked up chopped and changed plans and specifications. I'd concentrate on producing my answers to the appropriate AS 100% and let others get hung up on the examples in questions and the like not being exactly right.

ok thanks guys for the replys.
so ill go into the exam and hope its done to the correct symbols
if not hope it has a key/legend to understand how it has been done.
if its like the practice and looks like someones 8yr kid drew it and has no way to make use/understand it then ill probably be asking questions.
so i will ask the teacher beforehand to see if they can check if it has all been done properly.
but some symbols are always drawn certain ways. (switches and powerpoints) which they werent in the practice.
i work in the building and construction industry aswell. (industrial based)
i do understand what you are getting at with the sketches.
however we dont always accept some designs just off someones notepad =P
anything major we require a signed and drawn up drawing to go by.
but if it is something minor like a switch being moved from one side of the wall to the other its normally a chopped and changed drawing.
but i understand what you are getting at =P
