So I have been trolling the forum for a VZ for ages now but never really posted much
So story is I have finally found one I am picking up Monday on a unregistered vehicle permit from VicRoads.
Question is whats the go with insurance? I know the TAC third party thing is paid for with the permit but as far as property cover (if by some chance I were to crash on the way home) goes does a 1 day unregistered vehicle insurace policy exist?
(sorry if this is the wrong section)
call your insurance company and get cover note insurance. covers you for 21 days.
then turns into a full insurance policy once you start paying.
Dont care about my car so much...dont want to write off a lambo though haha
this is for the act, no it covers any personal injury, so for example medical bills, basically anything with blood. But if you hit a lambo, you will have to pay that off lol. It is worth insuring it.
Exactly
Just dont know quite how to get insurance, guess i will just call a million places tomorrow before i go pick it up and try and organise something
don't know for sure but i don't think you can get 3rd party property insurance on an unregistered car
i know i couldn't when i had to pick one up for somebody a few years ago but i only called one company.
personally i would get someone to pick it up with a trailer or tow truck
That option is looking a better and better
Whats a rough cost to get it towed 50k's?

You should be able to get a cover note to cover you short term.
I brought a car privately once and rang up and got insurance within 30mins of putting the deposit down even though I was a week until I picked it up. I didn't have all the details of the car since I didn't own it yet or have the paperwork yet but they let me start up a policy and said I was covered in the short term but I had a period of time to ring up and give them the rest of the details or my new policy would be void.
Ring around all the main guys and someone will let you start a policy because It guarantees them business as soon as the car's on the road
I ended up just going insuranceless
