worth the read, and a look at the pics.
holden/ford owners probably have the most predominant rivalries in australia, with i think too many owners being one eyed, and theyre missing out on experiencing/seeing some awesome machines and people in the process
make an effort to venture outside of your comfort zone next year, go test drive a new ford, stop in at a "rice burner" car show, you might surprise yourself!!
Great read! And agreed! But you won't ever get the one eye'd bogans from either camp to change their views. Current Fords/FPVs are actually much better cars than current Holdens/HSVs save for a few things, like lack of illumination on the steering wheel buttons, needing wider rubber on the rear and needing the modern style flexible windscreen wipers. And the latest offerings from Kia and Hyundai are also worth looking at. Of course you sacrifice some power (that you can't legally use on the street anyway) but gain better fuel consumption. When 98RON fuel is $1.50+ per litre why doesn't it make sense to own a high torque, small capacity diesel that does 1,000km a tank?
Couldn't agree more. Sadly, people gather in like minded groups now and bag every other badge.
What, like chev ones???
but bathurst wouldnt be as fun when your throwing cans with some sort of flammable gas into the next campsite because they dont like holden =P
but seriously
there are many good cars out there, you dont have to like them to admire what they actually can offer
but i just have a preference for unsofisticated v8s.
like camaros and challengers =P
i admire how ford has done well with the 6.
but doesnt mean i want to be seen in one =P
Hmm, owned Holden, HSV, SUbaru and ford in the last 3 years and off to sti next year, isn't that going out of my comfort zone enough lol?

I think i'll just stay in my comfort zone if you don't mind, it's nice and cozy here![]()
Oh he def said that to get a reaction.. but you fell into two traps

Why? On the current range I agree with what he said. I test drove everything from an F6 to a GTS, I settled on the g6et as for me it was the best buy. The HSV's felt cheap for what you pay, the one I test drove had rattles and just didnt feel right, the Calais V was over priced by a long shot and the F6 for me was well over priced also.
I fail to see why being honest about something is trolling, it is his opinion and he is entitled to it.

Unfortunately this is the case. Opinion has now turned to fact for enthusiasts. Holden vs Ford rivalry is good on Bathurst day or when supporting the real V8 Supercar races back in the Brocky hay days of 80's/90's. But the enthusiasts now stick to one badge as you say NAAF and bag every other unfortunately, because there are other good cars on the market, just depends on what your tastes are.
I don't understand why pricing should be a contributing factor to guaging an opinion. Things like "over priced", "felt cheap for what you pay", "best buy" etc. are the things that blur perception.
Put both cars on paper and compare them for what they are and not for what they cost, then make a fair judgement.
Maybe you were just unlucky with the car you test drove, because I found the total opposite of what your saying with the VE. But hey, as you said, everyone is entitled to their opinion I guess...
kinda like religion:
except replace "faith" with "your love for ford/holden/nissan/bmx's"

LMAO!!! I was all set to reply to SilverVH until I got to the comment about taking value for money out of the equation. Now, I realise there's not point. You can't have a common sense conversation with someone when they have no comprehension of common sense.
And with that, I'm off to buy a Bugatti Veyron - cause hey, all these years I've been doing it wrong and including cost as a factor when choosing a car.
Price is the single largest determining factor in basically every purchase there is on the planet.
This could be just a one eyed opinion blurring reality. Someone is so one-eyed in their love of a particular brand that they overlook it's shortcomings simply because it is a Holden, Ford, Toyota or whatever.
As for a fair judgement, what they cost is definitely a contributing factor. If price was no barrier, how many people would be driving Holdens or Fords? We wouldn't have that particular rivalry, it would be Mercedes V BMW V *insert any Euro brand here*
I read over the article, and agree with it fully.
I have my personal preference for a type/brand of car I drive (Holden) but every person has their own preference, their own pride and joy.
Who are you to mock them for driving a *insert car brand here*?
I have driven all sorts of cars, and currently own a '71 Volkswagen Super Beetle, Mazda 6, Holden Commodore, and Mitsi Mirage.
P.S. loved the pics in the article![]()

Question: If two different vehicle model's exist in the marketplace that are targeted at a specific demographic, are built on similar platforms and are priced at a pretty much exact level (the same for arguments sake), then how the hell does price become a contributing factor between those two vehicle model's?
I know the answer. some_guy, Rufys, Hammatime and Not_An_Abba_fan don't.
Holden - Ford -> Same
HSV - FPV -> Same
We're comparing these 2 makes and their models, nothing else. No Ferrari's, Lamborghini's or Kia's. And Rufys...I have no common sense? But hey, since your deadset on attacking me then please, I'm all ears. I would like to hear what your reply to me was.
You still don't get it...

Just because something costs the same, doesn't make it value for money when comparing it with something else that costs the same.
