As terrible as it is, I would love to know just how fast they were going to do that to a VE. Either way, I feel for their families, who are now down one family member.

The cops expression pretty much sums up the whole thing. Cops are sick of having to see people busted up from pure stupidity on the road and these guys that think they're invincible just don't understand how many people it affects if they get killed. It starts from family then friends, cops, witnesses and other families that have gone through this have to relive it everytime it happens again.
As Jaymz said, I feel for the families but at least these muppets are off the road, imagine if they hit another car then how many more people would it affect.

Damn, thats one tough palm tree. I've seen some pictures of MAJOR collisions involving VEs and they are pretty damn tough. That car would of been close to the speed limiter to do that.

The news was talking 200 but who knows. Cops are trying to find CCTV footage to try and work it out. They were obviously hammering. The impact mark on the palm tree has got to be 5ft from the ground.

5 star ancap ratings are based on certain speeds. doesn't matter if your car is the safest ever if you hit a tree at the speed they would have been going your screwed.
