I understand that quite well, I was under the impression When an insurer writes a vehicle off it can't be registered since the new laws came in. That's what happened to my bike I crashed, 6 months old, only fairing damage and a few scraps, Paid out and the bike couldn't be re-registered.
Ah true that, we have stupid laws up here lol
Yea u either go on the statutory write off or repairable write off list.
Is it still the case of repairing a stat write off car then registering the car in another state without an issue or did they end up implementing a nation wide list?
You can try but IMO your stuffed. Whilst your "bunch of mods" may have cost a bomb and worth a heap to you, very few (if anybody else) will pay you for them. Further to that, your premium would have been calculated on the market value and thus you would have paid more for the higher figure. Just like buying anything else, it's important you examine what you are buying.

My partner had someone run up his cars ass on the freeway, the car was a repairable write off from memory, he got $8000 back (it was a vx calais with l67) bought the car back for $800 and sold it as it was for $3000... We only paid $7500 for the car in the first place... Maybe you should do something like that? Alot of the time there's someone who knows someone who can repair the car cheaper then u could, so they still pay a reasonable price for it? That's just a suggestion so don't bite my head off please![]()
After my car was written off last year, you learn from your mistakes. I hadnt taken the time to ensure my new wheels were covered. When it was written off throught no fault of my own I tried to get the wheels off..the panel beater was happy for me to have them, but as I was in hospital injured I couldnt get there before the assessor. I figured that as the insurer wasnt covering them then they were mine...but the vehicle became their property to do with as they please. Was an expensive lesson to learn. Now I have another car with new wheels that were covered from the day they went on.
I agree with everyone else..I think you did ok considering the model. Always go with agreed value.
Some on here will tell you how dumb it was, but they must have never screwed up in their lives.
It sux, but just learn from it.
