    Hi guys,

I recently purchased a 2011 S2 Holden Caprice and the time to give it its first wash has come, Due to it pissing down rain when I went to get a mate who got stranded on the side of a highway. Anyway, with my previous cars I washed them using a bit of laundry powder and water in a bucket. Now tell me how I can do the best clean at home for about under $60. I have the next 3 months off and shit loads of time to waste, so I dont mind if it is a time consuming process. Thanks guys.

    Me personally.

    Wash and Wax - $20-25

    Lambs wool mit - $15

    Decent sized Chamois - $15-20

    Polish - $25-35

    Clay bar kit - $30

Mind you I "buy" all Meguiars. ...and when I say buy, I mean the Meguiars rep comes in and I say, what would you recommend for my car? ...and he hands me a bucket full of products.

I actually did buy some stuff the other month for my step brother and it came to about 140 bucks, thats including some interior stuff.

If youre looking for a Glass Cleaner I cannot recommend Meguiars No Smear highly enough, Its magnificent.

Shit, my car washing stuff probably runs into about 1000 bucks.

Sent TinSnips a PM, he will give you some good advice.

Here's a tip: Don't drop your clay bar on the floor otherwise you can kiss it goodbye.

Does anyone else have bad bead dirt marks after applying wax then the rain hits?. I'm sick of wax. I'm sticking to wash-wax, and buy a good polish. I bought a top wash which im happy with. But that shit wax beads the water and its so wrong.

I've heard and seen some clay bar demonstrations on youtube. What was it. If you drop it and it picks up some of the shit on the ground it will stay in it. And just to be sure toss it away just encase it collects rocks and sharp objects that might cut scratch your paint?.

Meguiars do a paint restoration kit for about $60 which looks pretty good, includes most of the stuff you'd want. I was looking at buying one on the weekend, but just opted for the shampoo only.

Wish I'd got the whole kit now.

I used to use Maguiars Soft Wash Gel for years and then changed to Maguiars Gold Class Car Wash. I bought some Maguiars NXT Generation wash today. Used it on the family Outlander and it came up really nice.

I wash weekly and use Maguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, Polish & Wax once a year. These bring up the paint on my VS pretty good considering how old it is.

Money isn't a issue. I just didn't expect the cost to be so high. I will spend a large amount of money if it gets my car looking spick and span...
