    guessing its a newer TR/TS astra. if yes, 90% it will be coil pack or computer

    I had an N12 pulsar 1986 ( sold also as Holden astra ) and when a thin steel brace came loose the whole car would shudder and stall on take off unless you spun the wheels up lol was quite embarrassing in the petrol station.
    My ride-VS commo, Just finishing the manual conversion. Working out those annoying bits!

    a similar problem happened to me where it would jerk when taking off then suddenly stay on the same speed. You should check the throttle body because it might be jammed or somthing along the lines of that.
