Recently had a guy start for me. Came out from an island nation about 4 hours away. He spent months convincing me that he wanted a job and was willing to work. Once a suitable vacancy came up, he lasted eight days. Too stressful, could not handle it.

My suspicion is that his wife and son had just arrived and wanted to go home to village life, not live in a big city. The pressure was put on from other areas.

I've seen it a few times where the partner can not handle the cultural difference, lack of family support etc. Leads to unhappy employees who look for any excuse to leave.
