    Default subaru liberty thoughts

Hey I've got a Subaru liberty its a 95 gx 2.2 (just to be clear this is my car, the sv6 is my dads just haven't changed my car status above yet) what do you think about this car and are there any mods I should do, I've done all the basics like radiator, timing belt, water pump and bypass hose, crank seal and a headunit and upgraded front speakers basically all by my self with the odd bit of a hand from dad bit of an Achievement considering I'm only 16
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Is it a manual or an auto? I had a 2002 rx 2.5 that was an auto as my last car

I'd say do some exterior mods to it so that your happy with how it looks and leave it at that for now

Great going for having a go at it from a young age.....

I'd just get some nice wheels (no bigger than 16 in, any more would just look silly), or if you have a bit of dosh track down a 2nd gen RS bodykit and fit/paint it. Keep it classy, subtle and tasteful. To 'Rice' up a liberty of that vintage is....ridiculous.... due to engine's low power output and car's high weight I would not bother doing any performance mods.

It's an auto, I want to stick to using original parts that came of the liberty but off a better model things like leather seats and wheels and like you said rs or rx bumpers and skirts, maybe some extractors or remove the rear muffler and straight pipe it I'm a fan of the classic Subaru burble

IMO dont straight pipe or put a cannon in the exhaust (they sound crap on N/A models), what you want to try and find is the twin turbo GT model (common as pig muck over here, not sure about in aus) and get the rear section off its exhaust (or even the whole exhaust if you are keen) as these came from the factory with a calsonic variable pitch exhaust, which gives them a pretty sweet note that you can even adjust yourself - just using cable ties to hold the butterflies open if you dont want to wire up the electrics for them.

The Momo steering wheels the higher models came out with are pretty cool too, and are a straight swap in.

They can look pretty sweet with some decent wheels, but IMO i would stick to 17"-18"-19" - as anything smaller looks stupid and anything bigger just makes them look weird. The factory '17s that came on the later ('98-2002) models look pretty sweet on them.

This is my one (girlfriend drives it now) on 17" TSWs. I always thought it looked too high and wanted to lower it, but I would cart old engines and crap around in the back of it all the time so it wouldnt have been practical. I might get a set of GT side skirts for it next time im at pick-a-part, though.

good cars alot of the later model subaru stuff will fit, i have a 1991 liberty awd wagon, it is a manual but its done me well (now showing 448,000km on the clock!) it has later wrx shocks/springs and brakes, was going to put the front seats out of a rex in it but couldnt get them for a sensible price! it also has wrx alloys on it. check out some of the subaru sites like ausubaru or such they are full of info!
