In most utes the tyre iron , jack etc is right behind you seat..

I could reach behind my seat and boom there it is

Maybe you should have said the offender did a burnout, theyd be straight onto it then.

It's depressing to say that I expected this outcome the first time I talked to the police - its pathetic.
It's a sad day when a loose battery clamp gains priority over a drug fed assault.

It really is a shame the police won't investigate.

We've had a lot of rain in my town the last couple of days, I was driving on the edge of town and 3, maybe... 25 y.o. guys, in an RX-7 had pranged their car on a notorious corner and bounced into a ditch. My natural reaction, pull up. As I stopped, crossed my mind that there are 3 probably very pissed off men here but I thought I had to check they were ok. Got out asked if they were ok and if they needed a phone to call anyone and if I could help. Sounding very appreciative, they said "Nah mate it's fine, someones on the way already, they'll be hear in a minute. Thanks though."

To the OP, to be fair I am 6'5" - someone needs some real balls to take me on (I look a lot scarier than I am). But despite the risk of getting attacked I still stop for anyone that may need help, especially given my isolated area at night you might get a car an hour or so if you're lucky.

I'm not telling you to stop for people after what happened to you, it would rattle me as well, but I hope you still try to to help people - it's people like you that make the world worth living in. I hope you heal up quickly mate.

Welcome to Australia, where drug addicts that steal, assault and ruin countless lives are treated like royalty yet do a burnout and you lose your car for a month possibly resulting in the loss of your job and destroying families due to the resulting stress and pressure. The court system is an absolute joke, Police are too lazy to do what they are paid to do and real criminals continually get let back onto the streets to reoffend with pathetic excuses like they had a hard upbringing or its the drugs fault.

I've stopped to help people before and after reading this ill probably never stop again. Absolutely fked that there is dogs out there who have to do shit like that to someone tryin to help.

I keep one of these clipped to the cargo barrier in my Hiace just incase I need it.

It's a 3 D cell Maglite with a 2 battery extension tube and a glass breaker on the end. It's heavy, solid and always within an arms reach. I wouldn't hesitate to use it if needed. I've also thought about keeping my 'zombie hunter' in the car but I don't want to know the repercussions if the cops see it. (Actually that could make for a new thread.)

Sorry to hear of your situation mate, but be assured of one thing. There is a special place for scum like that, also be assured that they will indeed find it one day.

    Hopefully sooner rather than later.

    Cheers.

How bright are those MAGLITE 6D? I've done a LITTLE bit of reading about Xenon bulb upgrades and stuff, but really have no idea. Is the size purely for the *ahem* structural integrity, shall we say.

If it were me and the police did not do anything, this is what I would be doing.

    1. Contact your local Police station and find out if there is any record of the complaint, if they have taken your statement, there should be a an "incident" number assigned to it. If there has been a number issued ask for it and don't lose it.

    2. If no report/incident has been recorded ask why, as an assault is a very serious complaint.

    3. Ask who the district inspector is and ask for his/her email address. This information must be supplied by the police upon request.

    4. Write an e mail to the Inspector giving all the information on the assault as well as the time and the police officers name to whom you reported it to. Make sure that you attach the photos of the damage that was done to your body. This e mail does not have to be long, but it needs to have ALL the facts and times.

    5. Send the e mail to the inspector and to the following.
Commisioner of the NSW police force Andrew P Scipione
Minister of Police NSW The Hon. Michael Gallacher BProf St MLC
NSW Premier The Hon. Barry O'Farrell MP
NSW Attorney General The Hon. Greg Smith SC MP
    Police Integrity Commission
    A Current Affair
    Today Tonight
    The Project
Make sure that you put all the e mail address in "TO" area so that every one that gets sent the e mail will be able to see who else got the e mail.

You will find that your case will be addressed rather quickly after that.

    Yep yep

Time to name and shame the police officers and station for lack of action and in the process, the offenders taken off the street.

Think of it this way, if the offenders get away with it this time, then how many other times have they gotten away with bashing up or assaulting people.

Don"t take this the wrong way old mate but from previous personal experience the cops aren't going to do shit for you get on with your life as best you can there is no justice in this world . They are too busy collecting revenue and fineing people over trivial bullshit . Unfortunately people like ourselves never totally get over things like this. Don't let this unfortunate experience bring you down any further than it all ready has.
Best of luck with what ever you decide to do.
