hey just wondering as i have a 202 efi but head and valves needs refacing etc.... i can buy a carby 202 engine cheaper... will my efi, extractors n everything else bolt straight onto this carby motor????
I can't see why not, they were all the same, the head maybe slightly different, do some measurements down the wreckers before you do it, or get a cheap head from eBay, the only problem you will have will be pollution gear, if you go an older engine (red/blue) it may not be legal.
I Spose it'd work if it's not insured or don't crash and don't tell authorities, an in betweener till you get another black motor
Carby motor uses electronic spark timing, which uses a crank angle sensor on the bell housing and no mechanical or vacuum advance. Carby motor has a different distributor due to the EST. The EFI motor has a different cam and head than the EST (Carb) motor. If you bolt the EFI and distributor onto the EST motor, it will work, but not as well as the EFI motor. EST motors also ran a lot dirtier, so it will probably be more clogged up with gum and carbon than the EFI motor. If you plan to keep the car, I'd recommend reconditioning the EFI head as a better long term option.
