So my auto is stuffed. Won't shift into 3/4. I was going to convert and go for a rwc but was informed the conversion has to be engineered? With that said would they fail the auto? I'm not pulling it out just to put another auto in the car! Just wanted to see if people have been in this situation before

Why would it? If it's the same transmission it's fine. I would just swap it if you have a spare one.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
Convert it to a manual?
Well I would imagine from a legal view it would have to be engineered since the car would now be different to the build plate. But I would be willing to bet that if the mechanic didn't know it used to be an auto then they wouldn't fail it. Hard to imagine they compare everything the plate says with everything in the car.

Well if he fails it I'll convert it, I'm not wasting my time swapping auto's can't stand driving auto's

Isn't rwc concerned with safety and the environment rather than the mechanical stability of your car?
I wouldn't think your transmission was relevant. Some older cars were a 2 speed auto.
AFAIK if the car has the OPTION of a manual from the FACTORY. Its fine without an engineers cert. If it did not have the option eg if the car was a Calais, it would then require the certificate.
Might be best to ring VicRoads 10 times and see how many Yes's and No's you get and go with the majority.
