Default Keeping 'weapons' in your car

After reading one_and_only2004s thread about being attacked whilst trying to help someone on the side of the road it got me thinking about keeping objects that be used as weapons in your car. What do you keep, why and would you actually remember to use it if the situation arises? Also does anyone actually know the legalities of keeping stuff like big torches, knives and wrenches within arms reach? Have you had to use them before?

Uhhh none what so ever. In 20 years of driving (and at 50,000k per year I tend to do a bit), I have never ever felt the need nor desire what so ever to keep a weapon in my car.

My friend got fined for havig a baseball bat in his car.
Went down to the cop shop straight after showed his baseball member card and got off it though.

So it is illegal for cirtin things

Do i carry one? Nope. if i did, i couldnt live with making someone brain damaged or dead.. even if i was defending myself

Wouldn't the best be a club lock? It usually sits by your feet and isn't illegal.

Personally I don't even have a car at the moment, so my opinion probably doesn't matter lol

Well in my car I have the steering wheel lock i mentioned and a pocket knife, but the knife is there because its handy to have. I couldn't cound how many times I have used it (Havent stabbed anyone). I had a bayonet in my car for a while but that was because it was a replica I wore at a christmas fancy dress party (I was a terrorist). My mate was quite surprised when he found it a month later when he was in the back lol

I keep a 5D cell Maglite in my Hiace which also has a glass breaker on the end. It has a fair bit of weight behind it and it would cause some pretty serious damage if it connected at full swing. It's clipped to the cargo barrier behind the seat and is easy to grab if needed. I've never been in the situation to need it. It if given the chance I wouldn't hesitate to use it if I had to.

Always carry 2 screwdrivers in the centre console. Not for weapon purposes, but they sure would be handy.

To get around getting in trouble, i carry heaps of loose tools in the car, screwdrivers, spanners etc... the car looks like it's a working progress so i guess it'd be believeable they're there for working on the car... not for protection from nutters.

Nope no weapons here, I've been taught thats dangerous because if the bad guys get them and use them on you then you are really screwed. I just concentrate on preventing these sorts of events from happening, not putting myself in dangerous situations. I would not get out of my car and if confronted I would lock doors and take off.

Never have and never will. I would prefer to avoid a situation before a confrontation.

Don't keep any weapons per say in the car... however, as said by others - The steering/club lock in the cabin and tool kit in the boot could be considered as weapons...

I keep a loaded Beretta under my seat. I'll take a picture:

It's just a standard M9 [see pic below], BTW, painted matte black:

no wepons, but a number of tools (eg. Breaker Bar) that i guess if the situation arises i could use. But i have no shame in saying if it did arise and i could. i would jump in my car and get the fck out of there. Violence never solves anything

knives are legal if you have a tackle box and rods in the car also. large tools are only legal if they are in a closed toolbox.

in my old car i had 2 large knives and a 1m long breaker bar with only intentions to use for scare tactics or if i feel my life is threatened, in one instance a guy followed me home because i overtook him.. he was doing 40 in a 60 so i crossed double white lines.
he pulled up cut off my driveway and my car and got out. i opened my car door and there was a diving knife and a butchers knife sitting on my drivers side door panel. he looked lost all his anger and explained he was mad because his father died in a crash like that.
    IHAVENOPUNCTUATIONSKILLS.

with my current car.. being cop bait (although everything is legal) i do not have any and wont carry any.

Well I don't carry anything, but one time i randomly had my door opened on me at maccas and got punched in the face, then they yelled out something about hungry jacks I can't remember. Must of got the wrong person because I had no idea who it was.

Lucky I didn't get out because the maccas footage couldn't see it happen, but could see 2 guys waiting behind my car + a full car load (there was 2 cars).

I dunno if they were just being shitheads or what but yeah. Was a cheap hit and in that instance I was on the phone, wasn't even thinking about anything bad.

I should add that I only keep my maglite for if I am put in a situation where I need to defend myself and it would be used as more of a threat than anything else. I wouldn't ever intentionally go out just to get the chance to use it on someone. Plus I like to know that if someone is after me I have something as back up.
