(This question was also asked in the VY specific section but i figured techies would read here 1st)
After filling up on sunday morning (3/4 tank) i noticed a feul smell, thought it was just a bit of spilt feul so i ignored it, sunday night it came back meh ok, so weird but thought nothing of it.
Today (tuesday) i drove to work, could smell petrol, coming home, petrol again, ive made about 4-5 small trips today and on each trip i could smell petrol.
It starts smelling about 3-4min after i start the drive and smells for about 5min then stop again, it seems stronger in the boot and in the rear of the car.
Feul consumption has gone up about 1L/100km (now sits on 12.5l/100km)
Any ideas?

Yes, the noise stops after 2-3 seconds regardless of what i do but if i brake when it happens the speed drop and the noise stops.
My car is going in for service (due to the question i asked about in the previous post) so what areas should i be tellign them to look at for this problem as well?

possibly a brake pad rubbing?, would really need to hear it to be sure.
ask the dealer to check for the noise, make sure you give as good a description as possible

Dr. Bob, My VX is on gas, but it's an aftermarket conversion.. It still has a Holden LPG compliance plate but the conversion was done by Progas in Huntingdale..
When I'm on Gas, the LPG light (next to the Full reading on the speedo) should light up. It doesn't.. The Holden guy said the only way to get it to light up when I'm on gas is to buy a whole new dash..
If I buy a new dash face, like the picture below.. Can I get the LPG light to light up when I'm on gas?
Cheers

Hi Dr B,
quickie Q - any ideas why the VR would shoot the rich exhaust code when idling in gear, but not when aircon is on or is in neutral? It goes away after a short drive, but it's still a mystery - getting some carbon deposits on back of car too....

Hey Doctor Bob, (any relation to Father Bob? ).
It seems as though the PCM in my VR may well be playing up (not sending the right voltage to the MAT sensor).
Do Holden service centres (or anywhere else) actually conduct repairs or anything of the like on the PCM units, or is it simply a matter of throw away and replace?
Any idea on the price for a replacement unit? (I should be sitting down shouldn't I?)
Cheers, Shayne.

the VX cluster has the provision for the globe You could in theory get it wired up directly & get it to work that way.
If it was a genuine system it could be turned on with a tech2

Hi Shayne, have you measured at the pcm to be sure its not a wiring issue? if so then you will need a new one, cruise ebay, you dont want to know what a new one from Holden is. (laying down would be more appropriate)
there is a few companys doing repairs, not sure of the cost, Petroject is a big name supplier

Hopefully I'll have a chance to pop the PCM out of it's cradle tomorrow so that I can get to the plugs to check the wiring, and I am praying that it is only a wiring issue. (The odd thing is that somewhere along the line before I got a hold of the car, someone had actually cut the MAT sensor plug off the end of the harness, I have no idea why).
Cheers for the ebay tip too, I saw someone mention a ~$1400 figure for the new unit, that just about makes the car redundant!

Doctor Bob,
I have put in a HSV 250kph dash face into a VX Calais dash (220kph), can tech 2 recabrilate the dash to have the correct speedo reading. It seems okay up to 100kph (comparing digital read out) but it's way out as you go higher.
