    Hi Bec

Why was everything in the 20% Boxing Day Sale actually more expensive than the preceding week's prices even after the discount?

I foolishly went there prior to Christmas to take note of prices on things i needed and then worked out how much I would need to spend at 20% off.
Went back Boxing Day and every item had become more expensive and I would have paid more at the sale. Place was filled with customers, falling over each other, to get to the "bargains" though.

Thats the genius behind marketing though isn't it. Making people believe that their 'sale' prices are cheap. They achieved their aim and got people into the store, most of which more than likely bought something, and making a healthy profit.

20% is off the standard prices that don't change - only occasionally inline with inflation.

However there was a fairly large sale in the lead up to Christmas, so that's probably why you saw them cheaper beforehand

Of note I bought a small Arc Welder for $99.00 about a year ago. The price has been at $99.00 for most of the year but during the Sale it was $129.00. Hmmm $129 - 20% = $103.20
Maybe it's just my local store. I don't shop there often so I may have only attended when other sales were on and just didn't realise.

A real question. Do you stock Cat Converters for VNs?

do any of the people in supercheap know what theyre doing or looking for? i work for the opposition, autobarn, and we got a supercheap like 3 shops away, and get soo many people coming in saying those guys up the road couldnt help me, they just scratched their heads, didnt know where to look or what to look for.

i mean, when i started, i knew jack about cars to be honest, but i know a lot more now, and i can get away with just plain old customer service if i dont.

i actually have a good few friends from working there, even though im mostly weekend casual.

maxy, i dont know about supercheap, but autobarn have a wide range of markup, going from 10% or less, upto anything over 200%, large markup on real small crappy things, just to make it worth selling.

things like oils, batteries, have bugger all, so when it comes on special, grab it. even guys with trade accounts usually dont get a discount on oil.

Nobody will believe it, but, we are a hard working bunch of people. We get paid out all the time and there is no point arguing as there are slackers like in every workplace.
We actually look the same as people outside our building.
People tend to have this vision of us as: long sleeved business shirt, grey suit, tie, glasses, aged 50 and with a calculator and pens in our pockets.

A client once refused to speak to me as he did not believe I worked there.
