Ok, so my wife has about a gig of songs from Napster on her PC and we aren't going to renew our subscription.
Is there anyway we can play these files?
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
what format are they in?
Matrix
there all mp3 but with licence protection.
Could I put them onto CD and then play them on a mp3 player?

I think there's also another method which looks to be a bit quicker (using Virtuasa? or something like that), if you google "Napster DRM" you should find more on that. Be interesting to see how you go![]()

i think with napster you have to pay extra if you want to keep the song on disk or other device
there is a freeware program called Step Voice Recorder that automatically saves the recorded file to MP3.Originally Posted by 12Voltking
StepVoice Recorder
StepVoice Recorder is real-time recording software with MP3 file format support. It allows recording from any sound source, such as microphone, line in or any sounds currently playing on your PC (internet radio, movie sounds, etc.).
Real-time mp3 encoding saves hard disk space and time, because you don't need to encode recorded sounds later. This feature is critical for longer recordings.
A wide range of mp3 bitrate settings allows to vary sound quality from telephone (3.5 to 7.0 MB/hour) to CD (3.5 to 7.0 MB/minute).
With recording visualization you can easily adjust volume level to get best results.
The StepVoice Recorder features include, but not limited by:
Support recording from any sound source;
Supporting file formats: MP3;
Direct MP3 encoding without temporary WAV files;
Recording/Playback visualization;
Auto name system;
Friendly interface.
Another line in method is to use Audiograbber's Line In Sampling which can automatically splits the files so you can just start your playlist and let it run.

LimeWire's the only way to go![]()
matty88...thanks for the advice dumbarse but we already have the songs.
MOTIV8 that would be good, but we currently can't play the songs at all.

Iam easy but I didn't see the point in that post! LOL
Besides....I do use Limewire these days. But that post was still non-effective!

All good.. I'm not a fan of file sharing programs.. I just download all my MP3's from this Russian site..
I pay US 10 cents a song, but I get a proper mp3 with no kind of encoding or encryption.. A small price to pay for convenience and simplicity, methinks..
Not sure if it's illegal though.. Although it probably is, that's why it's from Russia..
There's always the dodgy method if none of these work, "burn" the MP3s to a CD image using Nero then mount that image to a virtual drive and use a CD ripping program to get the files down to the hard drive, although there may be some slight loss of quality, and you'd have to rename all the songs back to their original names..
I'd try your luck with some DRM-strippers people were talking about first, seem a lot easier than this (the first method of stripping DRMs), especially if someone's cracked the algorythm it should be a piece of cake
DRM strippers..hmmm...thankx Juzzy Wuzzy!

I was just saying that in the future you can use Limewire to download future songs without having to go through all of that DRM crap
mmm yeh a bit dodge how uve paid and cant use it
is this the same as wif like bigpond music??
