    Exclamation my continued struggles

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....2521%26fvi%3D1

My mate saw that for me last night. Is it true that the 'mission won't fit into my VR?

As far as im aware there should be no troubles with it. Both use the 4L60E, both have the same trans tunnel, this would leave you to believe they both use the turbo bolt pattern..........Not sure mate.....

Clearly your car is auto. The VS Series and the VR Series only used 1 type of automatic transmission. Therefore, unless this 'mission is not VS it should fit fine in a VR.

Unless that 'misson on ebay is not a VS commo 'mission.. Then YES that transmission will fit in your VR.

I think what he's trying to say is that it might not be a VS transmission at all, email the seller and get them to check the ID tag on it and make sure its a 4L60E.

A: The Transmission plate has the number 4 on it, it is a 4 Speed Turbo hydramatic Transmission, which came out in the VS commodores if that is of any help.
Question about the number on the plate has already been asked.

I would check that it is not a software difference between the ecms. physically it will fit.

im sure in my situation you would have done the same. I apologise if someone was offended or anything like that, but think of it this way.. I urgently need a car on the road, I needed an answer in a limited amount of time - I was actually in talks with the transmission owner at the time.

I got caught up in the heat of the moment, but be damned if im going to be told by another MEMBER how to post on this forum. I will accept it if I am told to calm down by an admin/mod, but not a typical posted like yourself.

Transmission originally purchased interstate for a VR, but as it's for a VS, it does not fit my car.

Considering the bloke bought it for his VR and it doesn't fit................ I think he answered your question in the ebay add......... I personally wouldn't risk it... although you could ask a transmission place.

Thats why I was a bit stumped, the transmissions in the VS/R were practically the same to my knowledge?!

The seller has rung Holden up, they say it will fit and work in a VR Commodore. However, he has also contacted an independant mechanic and they say it wont! I am going to contact my mechanic and ask him myself.

Just a general Question.. Why did you start this thread? You asked for an answer.. you got one.. you then are asking someone else? What the? This Thread is useless...

Well All gear boxes will bolt up and will drive most time but never be 100%

VR Series 1 Will only Suit This Series as Lock up in ON/OFF
VR Series 2 Will Only Suit This Series as Lock Up is PWM and 3/2 Shift is ON/OFF
VS All Series Will Only Suit This Series as Lock Up is PWM and 3/2 Shift is PWM
VT All Series Diffrent Shape and Output Shaft Length aswell as Selector is diffrent.

I don't trust local mechanics, They always try and pull a shifty on ya (will say somethings stuffed if its not, or if somethings difficult for them they say it can't be done) bloody holden are just as bad. Hmmm our choices are limited if we are not handy with a spanner.
