Anyone see Top Gear on Monday? The mustang they had on has a button on the dash and everytime you push it the dash lights change colour. 125 colours it has. how is this possible? and can i put it in my car?
i guess it would just have clear plastic, instead of the green stuff the commodores have, and it would be the globe changing colour. i think it would be a lot of work to put it in your car
1995 Manual HSV Clubsport
Wade Cam :: 9.2:1 CR :: Pacemaker headers :: Twin 2.5" Exhaust :: VT Brakes
1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD
damn. it'd be mad to have it then set it up so when you're in park it flashes trough all 125 colours.
I think the multi-coloured dash is about the only thing the Mustang has going for it, and the styling is pretty retro although I fear it will age very quickly. Unfortunately it has a live rear axel, which is a dinosaur type setup compared to todays standards. Thats sure to put a dirty sock in the the Ford Fans mouth, I hope they like toejam because thats all they're gonna get out of this car.
Back in the hope things have settled down...
It would just be a setup of a few clusters of LEDs that are different colours in each cluster (say 6 in each), the mixing of the LEDs will give different colours, like those pens you can buy at novelty shops. You could/should be able to do that on any of the VY+ commys that have the clear plastic rather than the green but i doubt you would have room in the instrument cluster for the number of required leds
I could set it up, I have some full spectrum 5mm Led's... I could wire it up on a voltage variable resistor setup that each press of a button the voltage ammount and earthing point jumps and it would be able to cycle colors or i could use a variable resister aka pot to change the colors. Would do it almost exactly how i set up my Vn Calais Cluster.
Cheers

P.S- Yes, Everyone that owns a vn knows the lcd bulbs are exactly that, little bulbs, the green is the lcd on vn-vs... Well you can see the attached image of mine.

you'd be suprised. from when one these cars hits the showroom it is only there an average of 15mins before it is bought. i myself don't like the backend but i've sat in the drivers seat of one and had to start it up and move it, cos it was in a car yard and i needed a car next to it, and OMG......it has some balls......and the rumble out of her.......they definately get up and go.Originally Posted by fourstar82

No doubt its a great looking car and has a nice rumble, its just a pity Ford did a half arsed job on the rear of the car. Its could be Ford's idea of reliving the past not just through visual design but also through the dynamics and ride of the new Mustang. Mind you it probably doesn't concern Ford as sales have gone through the roof. Mind you, it doesn't say much about the American consumer when it comes to ride and build quality. That also begs the questions, when have they ever? Amazing what a bit of marketing and hype around a product does! Yes I'm cynical, but in essence its true. However, one can argue that the success of the re-birthed Monaro was due to some clever marketing and visual design despite despite criticism of weight, ride, gearbox, and similarity to Commodore. Of course its going to look similar to Commodore, its on the same freaking platform. Sorry I'm going a little bit off subject here. Anyway... [/soapbox]

oh i agree with you on the americans, just look at the chrysler 300C, it has a great hemi motor in it but handles like a brick on rollerskates.
