Thought that auction would get a lot of attention, it's been in the media a fair bit lately.

Although some of the bidders have some history, there's no way known it will go for $200k, even after another 9 days . I'll guarantee ebay/holden will revise the bidders, and may even change it so that only pre-approved bidders can bid on it.

I'll be interested to see what it really goes for though.

On Ebay, all bids are a contract. With this auction, they're protecting themselves even more with a verification process before accepting your bid.

So, if you win it, you MUST come up with the dosh.

BTW - In Victoria, stamp duty on cars is 4% of cost....

They've done the verification the wrong way round - according to the auction verification can happen after you bid. If you don't care about your ebay account (such as not many transactions), bid high for fun and then forget your account. Judging by some of the bidders so far that's exactly what's happened. Ebay may well suspend the accounts of those that bid but don't bother verifying later, but it makes the whole auction farcical.
