...my young fella said, I'm helping you fix the car dad, while i was opening the box of new leads and plugs,....thats good, i said.....but...oh no....he's gone and pulled all the leads off the coils....now i dont know which order they go back on...or even what order the cillinders are.....motor is a V6 3.8 ecotec....
is the cillinder count 246 up the left side and 135 up the right from standing at the front???? and what are the coils count.....can someone help....I need a beer....thanks in advance....![]()
facing the engine from the front it should be 1,3,5 up the LEFT bank.
OK.
Cylinder 1 is on the passengers side, closest to the front of the car.
Cylinder 2 is on the drivers side, closest to the front of the car.
Firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2.
Facing the car head-on it would look like this:
6 -- 5
4 -- 3
2 -- 1

These were originally American designed engines, so they're the opposite to what you'd expect - Cylinder 1 is on the passenger side. Same on Gen3 & Gen4, but opposite on the 308 & 253.Originally Posted by bangers

...so now..if so..where do they position them[the leads] on the coil block??
....is the coil bloke order 6 to 1=left to right......? ..pretty sure the first pin came off #6 pot and the last pin came off #1 pot....
The coils should have the numbers stamped on them.Originally Posted by nug

6-3-2-5-4-1
Try wiping the coils with a soft rag to see if the numbers show up, because I don't have a V6 I can reference this with.
Much easier on the Gen 3s. They have a coil for each cylinder mounted 6 inches from their respective spark plugs. Pisser...
....that worked...thanks clixanup.apppreciate the help..she's all sweet again...couldn't see any numbers....new coils last year, could be a/market...had me worried for a bit...
The boy learnt a bit this arv as well....thats what kids are for......![]()
