Urgent HELP!!!!
Hi Everybody,
I really need to know how many "clicks" the handbrake has to be up for the car to pass a road worthy and for the brake to hold the car.
I had an unfortunate accident today. parked at a friends house and came out half an hour later and my car had rolled back and into the side of her fence. the fence had stopped the car from rolling any more otherwise it would have rolled onto the road and probably caused a nasty accident. I did have the handbrake on.
just wondering wether the damage can be fixed by holden. car still has warranty until may'06.

to be totaly honest holden wont pay for anything, it's your own fault, the hand brake isnt a efective stoping mech, if your car was in park or if a manual in gear then it wouldnt have rolled down the hill, which is exactly what holden will say, as for clicks, its not done by that, atleast halfway on must be enough to hold the car at a standstill, anything less is bad

They go by clicks in Vic, don't know how many though. Kinda sucks because I press the button when I pull it up so it doesn't make the noise.
Sounds pretty shocking though, were you in Park or in Gear?

i hate people that reef it on, thatll **** it. pays to leave the car in gear. i never leave my car in nuters.

$1080.00 for the repair. :b: in this week for the repair. they have to respray the back door as well because they have to blend in the metallic paint. I'll have it back at the end of the week looking like new!!!
I'll take some pics of it once it's finished and post them in the "my ride" section.
I have always had manuals and always parked them in neutral. I can just see myself going to start the car and it jumps forward into a brickwall or something.

Thats where you get into the habit of clutching in no matter what. Would much rather jump forward by mistake then rolling backwards into a fence

Have always clutched down at the start. Whether I think it is in gear or not. Just force of habit.
Besides, new manuals now you can't start them without putting your foot on the clutch first anyway.

I thought everyone clutched a manual when they first started..
Maybe try parking it in gear from now on? That's what I've always done when driving a manual..

the hand brake on commodores wont stop it from rolling infact i think they are crap. try reversing with the handbrake on, its like its not even there. i couldnt bring my self to leave a manual in neutral, no different at all to leaving an auto in neutral, the wheels are free to move under the cars own weight.
