I just came back from 4 days in brisbane.I was staying at a place very close to the Roma St transit centre.
A schooner of beer [xxxxgold,yum!] was $4.10. The pub next door was $4.20! XXXX heavy was $4.80!
I live 1000k's north,& hate paying over $3.50 for a beer.
I was asking the barman why the price of beer was so high,all the time looking over his shoulder at the Castlemaine Brewery neon sign where they make the stuff! He couldn't give a toss.
Why is it so bloody dear in brisbane? Surely it cost $$$ to send the stuff north? Wouldn't that make it dearer up here? I reckon i'me being stiffed!

They usually charge more because they can, because you want their product and find it hard to say "no" they make a nice little profit on something that is so cheap to make its not funny!

When i used to go to Brizy they didnt even sell Schooners, they sold "Pots" and "Pints", like they thought they were irish or something. And they werent real pints either, on the bottom of the glass the measurement read about 30ml less then a pint. And yeah ya pay through ya teeth for them!! Full overpriced.

Yeah.. I was talking to a mate who told me he'd shout me a lift up to a bar on the first fridays of the month and also shout me beam's for the night.. soon as I saw the price I was like WTF!

I do know that at the RSL of my town "happy hour" is something like $2 to $2.50 for pots. I used to love goin down there.. talkin to the other blokes there, was awesome!

I know guys the gov is putting tax on everything, i have seen west end draught 30 pack for $41 thats crap , try gettin a premium beer for under 50 buks and ull push it, its way 2 expensive to even go out and drink now.

I go to the story bridge hotel (in brisbane) and pots in the beer garden are $2.70. Walk 5 metres inside to the 'fancier area' with 'fancier glasses' and you pay close to $4 for exactly the same drink. Crazy

Did you go next door to the Lowenbrau Keller, Jug o Beer 1 Litre $18 bucks, two of those and ur set for the night.

Sydney has much cheaper beer prices, tooheys new on special $38 , average case is around the $40 mark. The city and night clubs are a rip off. Bloody $4.50 - 5 for a schooner .
