Lightbulb Help me in making our streets safer from hoons?

Probably going to start some huge debate but I don't care, I think something should be done.. I'm doing the opposite to what those hoons with camera phones are doing in the other thread.

I use mine to take pictures of people who can't drive for shit then enter their details on idiotdriver.com.au.. took about 10 pictures yesterday, it's a good feeling knowing at the very least these d*ckheads with their "racing cars" dangerously overtaking us on the freeway just to get stuck behind another car or something can be publicly mocked, and have their parents take away the car they gave them lol

OK that's harsh, but still it's a good use for your camera phone, you're sitting on the speed limit then some hoon cuts in front of you 10cm from hitting your car, and you feel bad knowing nothing can be done.. well you can whip out your camera phone and snap their number plate, then when you view the photo later it should tell you the time of the day/date and by looking at the photo you can see where it is

Now I know I'm not the police and it's probably none of my/anyone elses business and they might not ever see the thing on idiotdriver.com.au but it's something we can do ourselves to make our streets maybe 1% safer and get a fuzzy warm feeling knowing we can get ours back

    Peace

(PS attatched an example pic taken with my N70, plate blurred out of coarse but you get the idea, and it's just to remember their rego/car type)

My bad, I just reread the other thread and it seems this is what they are advising people to do.. d'oh on my behalf (hey I was half asleep when I read it).. but still if you don't want to report to the police there's always idiotdriver.com.au

Mods/Admins if you want to delete or merge this into the other one go right ahead

good stuff. will be doing that when i get a phone capable. Mine seems to be soooo far from whatever you take pics of, would never pick up a numberplate. N70 seems pretty good?

just say someone in the passenger seat took it. however photos dont prove much. switch the phone to video mode.

i got a z1010. a flip phone. by the time i open it and start the camera the car will be long gone.

oh and vlv8vic, i know a few people with the n70, and they seem like one heck of a nice phone.

What's the difference between someone overtaking you and you taking a photo of a car whilst in motion?
As for idiotdriver.com.au, I can't believe someone has wasted their resources building that site. Seems like a site for grumpy people who have a chip on their shoulders against other people's driving.
Plenty of times I have to cut in front of someone and missing them by 20-30cm because they wouldn't let me pass them.

    I guess its your God given right to overtake people then... If you have to pull in that close, I'd suggest you were possibly committing at least one of the following offences;

Not overtake on right side of vehicle when safe

    Driving in a manner dangerous

    Predatory Driving

    Negligent Driving

Not display P-Plates (No offence to those of you who really can drive!)

And lets say you hit them, then guess who's fault it is? Yours...
Unless you can prove that they accelerated when you tried to overtake them then you're srewed, and I'll tell ya, that's a bitch to prove!

I don't have to show P-Plates, last time I checked I had a full license.
Yes nearly 90 per cent of the time the car is accelerating or the other times there is a car in the left hand and one car in the right hand not moving. So you have no choice to do what I have do sometimes.

What did that photo show? aside from a nice car?

I think you're better off taking pics of those stupid drivers with like, shit handing out of the car onto the road or a flat tyre etc.

Dare i say if you are worried about the drivers actions while doing 110 on a freeway id be keeping my focus on the road not looking for my phone. I tried snapping pics of the mitsubishi 380 when i saw them on the road before they were relased, it's hard to drive thru the camera :P

Regardless of all this, i like the idea of idiotdriver to an extent, i think they should differentiate idiots from hoons, because hoondriver would suck, idiotdriver would be funny

So just wait another 30 seconds for when its safe...

We all just need to relax on the roads...

He was stereotyping P platers, and a fair assumption he made based on your name and the website link you have to your profile. By my counts you are around 21-22 (year 10 + 1 year electical work, 4 years pc) so he wasnt far off.

Anyway, i dont know why you'd need to 'frequently' drive like you do. I mean, generally if someone is speeding up when you try and overtake them it's because you're driving like a hero in your VN (shik maaaaattee), probably tailgating or somehting, i dont know you so i cant say, just having a guess.

In general, most problems you see with other people can often be avoided by changing yourself in the situation, eg: slowing down, being more patient, flashing your headlights and screaming out the window etc. (the last one is not recommended lol)
I know in most traffic ud be hard pressed not to find a safe chance to overtake with a bit of patience

    Snitchin' is bitchin'

Nah I'm a passenger whenever I do it, and it's not to everyone who does the tiniest thing wrong, just the really bad (on a drive take a note of how many you see doing really bad things, you'd be surprised how many)

I've attatched a zip file of a photo from the N70 for those asking about it.. not amazing indoors but outdoors its pretty damn good, and not dull like a motorola.. software is amazing, just plug the phone in and it automaticly makes a new folder and downloads the photos, bad things are no 64 bit drivers last time I checked and the data cable is of poor quality (I had to go to the shop I bought the phone from and make them replace it

Number 1: What's wrong with VNs. If your VY is a 6, I am sorry to say this. You wouldn't have a chance on the 1/4 mile against my VN. I am getting really p***ed of with people driving around in flash cars thinking lowly of people driving around with cars that "aren't as good as theirs".

Number 2: I am 24 years old,(when I got my P Plates, I was the lucky last generation of people to only have 12months on P Plates), yeah I am sorry, I haven't updated my website for a while. Just because I put my VN on my website, doesn't make me a hero. That's the last thing I need to hear. I take pride in the cars I own, I sure as you do yourself.

Number 3: When you have Sunday drivers in front of you in both lanes, of course I want to overtake. What am trying to say is that P Plater hoon might have done what he did for a reason. Maybe he didn't, maybe he was being a hoon.

Geez I am sorry for what I said, I take it all back.
    Yours Kindly,
    Jim

There's no excuse for these idiots who stick to the right lane.. This idiot was going 90km on the freeway yesterday, the left lane was travelling at 100km and the middle was going about 110km..

I overtook the guy using the middle lane, leaving at least 20 metres gap.. The guy starts swearing and sticking his finger up..

As I got off the freeway, on an 80 zone I see traffic going 60km in the right lane and 80 on the left.. This little Toyota Starlet is going 60km and everyone's overtaking him..

He didn't turn right for 2 more major intersections, or about 10km.. It's drivers like this that need to be taken down..

    It really pisses me off..

Then you are one of those 'I think im mad' L platers
You are only ment ot be in the right if you are overtaking (shouldnt be doing much of that on L plates) or making a right turn.
Personally on 2 lane roads trucks, buses, L platers, those over 50 or anyone that thinks the economy of your new Corolla is great should be made to stick to the left!

People that are travelling faster then the left lane should be able to use the right lane..

If I'm travelling faster then the left and middle lanes on the freeway I'll be in the right lane..

If I see someone zooming up on the right lane faster then me, I'll move over and let them pass.. ALWAYS..
