As long as its visable they cant do much. If your tint is dark enough that they cant see the P plate well, you just put it on the out side.

the law is the p plates must be visible...so with tinted windows you would have a hard times seein them (at night especially) unless you were up close.
damn it. i think that cars with p plates near their licence plates look bad. i dont wanna do that

Here in the ACT, it says on the back of the proper P-Plates you get, That the plates must be displayed on the outside of the car, and clearly visable, but most people i know have the adhesive ones on the inside of the windows. It's funny when you are in someone else's car and they have p-plates on the inside, and then you read the back of it, stating they must be displayed on the outside.
Same with your rego sticker, in QLD you can put it on any fixed window on the left side of your car - unless its tinted, then apparently not.

I am 95% sure your not allowed to have your L and P plates behind tint what so ever, same deal with rego stickers.
Yeah has to be easily seen by other road users
That's right...P plates and Rego stickers have to be visible from outside the vehicle. There are infringement notices for each and would cost a few $$$ as well as loss of points in Vic...Not worth it..just get some and stick them on the outside.
in NSW rego must be on front windscreen so parking officers can see it easily and check plates against rego sticker, plus because of tint on side windows. and L or P plates must be next to the number plate. i wouldn't stick magnetic ones on either as a friend of mine had one melt to his bonnet on a hot day and has ruined his paint job.
had to move mine from inside the tint, didnt bother me, put it beside the number plate (VL) but because it was on an ever so slight angle i got pulled over again and told it was not easy enough to see from a particular angle, nevermind that, easy done just taped it to the back window with a bit of nitto or something.
