stupid school internet

ok, here i was happily going about my school work in the computer room at school, and every now and then i would log onto the forum and post a bit and read some.

ok and that was all good until today i went to justcommodores.com.au like normal, clicked on forum and i got the friggin this website has been blocked blah blah blah!!! so i cant get on anymore, its a croc a shit!:b:

i tried other ways by clicking a link to a threat on the actually justcommodore site, not the forum and the same thing happened.

Is there anyway that i can get around it, i went and spoke to the technician and said i need the site to complete my tafe work, cos im doing automotive he would make a claim to the firewall people but said that they probably wouldn't let it through.
So anythgin i can download or type in that will let me get onto the site?

any help would be greatly appreciated

Use an external proxy, you can access anything with one of those on some of the most locked down networks.. I can't find one quickly to share with you, I have one on my site but I'm not giving that out to anyone (I'm paying for it so yeah ).. try googling "free external proxy" and see how you go, you want one that's a website you enter the URL you want in and it will take you there, not a windows exe or whatever

if it involves installing something, they dont let you install things, it comes up with some crap like you dont have the rights to do this blah blah blah

don't know if this helps but the way i get around those things is i go into google, serach the website and the when i find the site theres a button next to the address called Cached i click that and most of the time it gets around the firewall/block thing.

i remember when i was in the US we had shit like that at our school. because american technology was SO great at schools (just kidding, they all use Macs ), we could get around it by typing the websites IP address instead of the URL in the address bar. probably wont work now.

i also remember that if you tell google translator to translate this page into english, it could get around a few blocks.

anything else would get pretty technical

If you use a cached version you wont be able to post anyway. Or you could use an anonymous proxy, provided you can access teh interweb from inside without going through the schools proxy by changing the browser settings - and then someone after you will go to a porn site and get caught, then the admin dudes will see that the proxy has been changed, see that you were the last person to access a page through the schools proxy from that machine and you'll get your account suspended for playing with the security settings - provided you can access them in the first place.

Thats just one scenario

easy.. get access to a proxy as mentioned. I use one on my site like juzza.. its called CGI Proxy, anyway, you need website hosting with CGI access to get to it. It got around all the blocks at my old schools.

i tried google cache, that didn't work but ill try translating the site, but i dont think the firewall is run by the school cos the computer tech said he would take a claim to unblock it and it may take a few weeks for them to get back to him, so it sounds like its a 3rd party firewall, if that makes sense.
at Swinburne wantirna campus, i dont think anything is blocked, i downloaded the actual msn messenger and it works, and so does this site.

just do your school work, and wait till you get home.

im ahead of the rest of the class, cos most of them are brain dead, I'm doing next terms work, its pretty good cos when it comes down to the class getting a lecture about workign harder i get told i can leave if i want, so thats alright.

The only thing that should be blocked on the internet at school is pictures of chopped up dead people, incase it disturbs your mind, everything else on the internet is ok, porn wont hurt you, it might even make you a better husband or wife in the future, I see in the paper today one school banned homework, about time. I refused to do homework while I was at school, never did any from year 7 right though to year 12, it hurt my grades a little in the later years then I couldnt' keep up anymore in year 12, still didn't so homework though, I just quit school I didn't beleive it was a good thing for kids to be wasting time on

ok, translating the website will NOT work, DNS resolution is not enough to skip the metatagging.

As for an external proxy, depends on how the link OUT is working to be perfectly honest.

If your techos are dumb, i highly doubt it, but if they are you could tunnel via ssh and recieve the page that way but im sure that there is a DMZ or two preventing it.

A very simple network layout would be:

Basically as long as you send the request for active content and there is enough filtering between you and the site, you get nothing. You will have to find a way to bypass the internal routing before you can get anywhere.

Thats why msn is so easy to stop in schools becasue all they have to do is deny the port forward. Then some smart ass came up with a http version with no active meta content...

Umm, by using an external proxy, all depends how they are monitoring your browsing. If they are using their proxy/firewall server as the main gateway for your computer. This will mean any data you browse will have to go through it, so even an external proxy wouldn't help you there. Just using IP addresses, I can't see that fixing it either as the proxy server will be translating the web addresses to IP addresses anyway. So by you typing in an IP address will just make it easier for the firewall/proxy to block your access.
You are just going to wait until you get home dude.

I'm about the same age and in my day if you had a 9600 baud modem and a blue/white box tone generator you could call the big Paradox and Quartex bbs's in the states for free all day and download elite new warez for your Amiga, lucky a game fitted on a disk and a disk was only 880k

Oh yeah and if you think that is cool, you should have seen the glue/hairspray we used to use on stamps to send parcels of disks around the world, wash the glue layer off the stamp and off comes the postage ink and voila! instant new stamp....... suckers

just search in google for anonymous web surfing. You will find sites that will let you type the address into them and they will take you to the site, but anonymously. That used to get around the firewalls at school
