...and not one Pantera album in the list... tisk tisk tisk
Go the classic metal stuff, never gets boring like the disposable nu-metal crap that's floating around.
or...
-Pantera
-Slayer
-Pre-"Black" album Metallica
-Megadeth
-Black Label Society
-Iron Maiden
-Judas Priest
-Black Sabbath
-Opeth
-Anthrax
-Stormtroopers of Death(S.O.D)
even stuff like:
-Alice In Chains
-Soundgarden
-pre-Neon Ballroom Silverchair
-Earlier Pearl Jam
sorry dude,
im not much into the heavy 'older' metal
where would modern metal be without metallica and pantera.
the only metallica album on there is st anger? jesus christ
1995 Manual HSV Clubsport
Wade Cam :: 9.2:1 CR :: Pacemaker headers :: Twin 2.5" Exhaust :: VT Brakes
1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD
hmmmm.... there's another 2 mudvayne albums out, one is pre ld50, but I can't remember tha name, and it's pretty unheard of, so record shops may look at you like you smoke too much, and there's another one with a name similar to end of all things, I heard a rumour that it's ld50 with a different name, but check it out anyways and lemme know. think it's called the beginning of all things to end or sumthin like that.
otherwise,
marilyn manson - mechanical animals - it's more melodic/electric, but still a good album
I agree completely with pantera - dimebag was one of the best guitarists IMO (RIP DD)
Rammstein - Herzeleid - their first album released in australia
Rammstein - Live Aus Berlin - Not really an album, but a recording of a concert in Berlin, Germany - also the title of the acompanying DVD of concert, start to finish on both counts
Rammstein - Reise, Reise - released early last year I think. kinda detracts a bit from what they used to be like, but every band does this at some point. another good one
Rammstein - Rosenrot - New album released this year. only heard one song, so I'll not coment on this album until I've heard it a few times.
Highly recommend any Incubus album you can find. Not really metal, but still real good music IMO
Tool - Aenima. just listen to it before you say NO
Tool - Lateralus - as above. There's more tool albums to check out, but I'm braindead today and can't think of titles.
White Zombie/Rob Zombie (not the same band). Real good music if that's your thing.
And now my train of thought has derailed, so I'm going away

They're different, basically prog metal but they do some really great stuff.
www.symphonyx.com for some sample tracks
Off the topic, but **** STATIC X and ILL NINO were killer the other nite (The palace, melb).
so ****in tight, biggest drum sound ive ever heard.
Looks like a whole pile of nu-metal to me mate.
My favourites include killswitch engage, lamb of god, hatebreed, parkway drive, throwdown, god forbid, soilwork, inflames, meshuggah, opeth, the haunted, nightrage, slayer, trivium, unearth, strapping young lad, chimaira, daysend the list goes on

The other tools albums are:
Undertow
Salival
Lateralus
If you like heavy metal, no one comes close to Tool.
Symphony X are great.
If you like Symphony X, you'll like Dream Theater.
Type O Negative are more sort of gothic, but great nonetheless.
Grab a copy of Opeths newest album - Damnation it's really different. Almost easy listening from a black metal band. Interesting.
Get away from the Nu-metal - it eats babies!

hey man..should check out sevendusts newie...next....its pretty sweet, more old school style sevendust.
also noticed you dont have one incubus album...you should at least give their older stuff a listen, its alot different than the music they make now.(and a sh*t load better)
some other bands that i like which you might (being a fellow metal head) are: chiamera, demu borgir, sunk loto, papa roach (some of their stuffs ok), and ratm....i cant believe you dont have any rage albums!..you gotta at least get their self titled.
I see you don't have any of the good classical Metallica albums, ie anything and everything before they started to turn into cowgirls with the black album. Everything Megadeath that has ever made and Slayer. Iron Maiden, all that's better than what you have at the moment. Also There is a very little known and very special underground metal band called Machinae Supremacy that play metal with a twist, the twist being they also use a SIDstation, which is a syth powered with a Commodore 64 sound chip, listen to this, since I have a bit of a fetish for the Commodore 64 music and old metal it's perfect for me and it's the only music that gets played in my VP V8 at 6am in the morning powering up the highway to work, when I arrive I'm ready to go

Here's what my brother said when I showed him this thread(old school metal guitarist)
"cant believe he has st anger !"
"he should have said he was into Pop"

You sure your brother is a metal guitarist!
You could also try some:
Arch Enemy
Carcass
Morbid Angel
Shadows Fall
...Stuff like that as well i suppose!
Gotta agree with greenfoam's St. Anger jibe. How could anyone ever release an album with drums sounding like that? Mindless drivvle is all that comes to mind when I think of the songwriting on that album. If this is what happens when Hetfield is clean, he needs to fall off the wagon again.
stylen, although you don't want to go old school (I would have thought "old school" was the Black Sabbath era - gee showing my age!), if you need your fix of metal I think everyone on here would agree you need to listen to Master of Puppets by Metallica. At least that might throw you down an unexplored path that will have a whole lot of new options for you to explore.
Where would heavy metal be without Black Sabbath? You should definately check them out. If you don't like the older sounding recordings, then have a listen to the Black Sabbath tribute albums, especially the Nativity In Black cd's.
If you like metal then you should try to listen to all the early bands from the 70's as well. It sort of makes you appreciate it a bit more.
Also worth checking out (not necessarily metal though):
Modern:
Dream Theater
Symphony X
Enchant
King's X
Yngwie Malmsteen
Pantera
Megadeth (well sort of modern, and much better than Metallica in my opinion)
Electric Wizard
Soilwork
Old:
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest (or see if you can find Rob Halford's live recording of his own band, Halford: Live Insurrection)
Budgie
Mountain
Grand Funk Railroad
Testament
Led Zeppelin
There are many more but I can't think of them at the moment.
if you like rammstein then try out Megaherz and Oomph!
also sentenced is a great band
[QUOTE=vtdemon]...and not one Pantera album in the list... tisk tisk tisk
Damm straight, big shame ain't it, the goodies are going to be forgotten soon.
