    you want to be easliy clearing 14 seconds across the 400. they are fast once they gbet off the line real quick. i saw one keep with a road bike. not off the line though just crusing and 60 and the bike launched and the GTR was righ up its ass. but then again it was an 11sec car.

    Skylines > Commodores

    4WD, twin turbo engine w/ DOHC, 24 valves and 6 throttle inlet manifold

    0 - 100 in under 5 seconds

    I know what I would choose

    GTR's are a proper sports car but I was watching a worked GTS? Skyline today and yesterday at the drags and it wasn't that fast, lots of wheel spin off the line because it was a manual but yeah, a decent VN V8 would have been doing the same times, The fastest cars today were LJ and LC Toranas with chev small blocks in them as allways . Followed by LH sedans and LX hatchbacks and then the odd GT Falcon with 351's in them, then a few turbo cars then some gen III's. Best of all was a kid in his daily driven rusty old worn out VL 5 liter running 11.3 on the 1/8th mile, what a champion, I noticed he changed his dial in to 10.7 today not sure if he actually run that time in the morning after a overnight tune up or not

    How about a Nissan Stage-A then. They aren't proper sports cars.

    Lets ignore GTR's for a second and stick to GTS-T's. I've read a pretty in depth article about skylines where the guy says the GTS-T pulls heaps faster lap times on the track.. Was interesting.

    what a waste of a classic. as if you wouldnt restore it and do up a stocko LC/J torrie.

    i heard of a guy who took an XU-1 in to get tubs put in the rear and the guy who owned the place said that there was no way he was gunna butcher a car like that

    I've got a DVD about skyline GTR's and its very interesting to watch. You can't compare a GTR to a WRX they are toally different cars homologated for totally different sports. The WRX of course being a rally car, and the GTR designed as a touring car mainly got JGTC.
    A GTR has 4 wheel drive and a computer to shuffle its power to which ever wheel needs it to make the car grip. It even applies brakes to wheels which are spinning even while its still accellerating. The RB26dett has to be if not the greatest one of the greatest 6 cylinder engines created so far.

    A stock GTR r34 has 206fwkw in standard form in accordance with the gentlemans agreement from all Jap manufacturers. But having said that its more in the region of 230fwkw heavily detuned but no-one seems to complain. There are many 1000+fwkw GTR's in Japan but a WRX will struggle to have 500kw when modified.
    IMO:
    WRX=not bad bit ricey
    GTR=animalistic hero performance car.
    Commodore=Aussie icon family car
    HSV=FAST Aussie icon family car.

    i totally agree with ya. what was worse though was he somehow located ANOTHER one for his mum. he then proceeded to drive it with no oil or water trying to blow the motor so he had an excuse to put a bigger motor in it too. funny part was the engine finally seized, but once it cooled down it started up again, and still went like a demon.

    GTRs are f***ing awesome cars but for some reason I would still prefer something built here.

    GTRs are just not a type of car I would like to own because im not really into ball ripping speed, whilst I like getting up it a bit I dont want something i'll kill myself in.

    One thing I hate is how people compare Commodores to GTRs, I really dont understand why people get the jollies when they hear of a GTR smoking a V8 Commodore, when you think about it the GTR is no 4 cylinder grocery getter, its a serious sports car, whereas Commodores are purpose built family cars.

    So to anyone who says that Skylines own Commodores, think about it because whether anyone likes it or not they just cant be compared, simple as that.

    yeah man i agree with that, unless you had some serious power even a 92 model r32 GTR has:

    Engine Code RB26DETT
    Fuel Type Petrol
    Fuel Delivery Multi-Point Injected
    Method of Delivery Electronic
    Induction Twin Turbo intercooled
    Power 208kW
    Country of origin JAPAN

    208kw standard in a car that is always going to be lighter than a commodore you can see that it will win hands down.

    for starters they are 4wd so it would not be rwkw, no just 208kw so at the fly unless there is a rw or fw infront of the kw then its at the fly(dont know what the sybol for 4wd kw is).

    dude, you would get mauled by an r32 GTR!!!!

    they do very high 12 second 1/4 mile!

    yours does like a mid 14 or 15second 1/4 mile...

    i reckon a 5L would have a hard time beating a r32 gts-t, which is only a 2L single turbo... let alone a 2.6L twin turbo monster!

    standard a vn ss does low to mid 7 second 0-100km/h and a r32 gts-t does around a high 6 second 0-100km/h.

    GTR are the best all round car ever!
    cat? isnt that an animal? no i dont want one in my exhaust system thankyou very much...

    You can't compare a family sedan with towing capability to a homologated racing car.. simple as that

    Man that is for the colectors. I would love to get a hold of a old perfect condition FC and customise it. If the job is done to its best then it only compliments the car. look at all the show cars out there. In 50 years time when ya grandchild is braging about a new model car i would much rather roll a hot customised VR out of the shed and say this is what used to be my pride and joy. rather then a stock one trying to convince him it was a nice model in the day
