HAHAHAHA Dude, K-Mart Tyre and auto, Sorry to say, not really the best place to start a mechanics apprenticeship... You will be doing i say 99% chance, no internal work on anything, You'll be servicing gearbox's and motors for the first year..
Still Congrats mateEveryones gotta start somewhere
Cheers

lol checkout chick's dont matter, Benji's got a girly that from what i've whitnessed he's gonna keep for a longgggggggg time...
How am i being an asshole? All i said was kmart tyre and auto, not very big on anything performance wise, He'll learn the in's an outs on lots of damn makes/models... But i rekon if u can stick with it for the first year or two then shift places. Because as i know finding an apprenticeship not exactly easy and not always the place you want, but you can shift 90% of places wont even look at you if you havent done first year in the trade already, because they cant be stuffed teaching you the basics, My place where I'm at. Woods Accident Repair for my spray painting apprenticeship, first 3days sweeping and cleaning, then the next week, straight into the work which i was exstatic about. And it's been going great. But Benji dunno if you'll get this but I did, after the first week of work you think to yourself, "Damn that was a pain in the ass" But then you look at it in the long run, You end out qualified, and with a good wage at the end of it, Apprentice wages do suck severely, Only reason i've been able to grab a decent pay for the last month or so i've been heaving out quite a lot of overtime staying back doing hi-fill prepping and rub backs for a few hours each night, Prick of a job but for that bit of overtime pay, it's well worth it.
Ok from recently starting as an apprentice.... For the first 3months, work your ass off, Always move at a quick pace, dont mope around or if you have nothing to do, don't walk around, ask someone if they need a hand or something. Because the first 3 months is what makes or brakes you when you get an apprenticeship, you normally have a 3week review and if its alright you get a 5week review, then after 10weeks you get offered your full contract. Over that time they check what work you've been doing, What your workmates have said about you, And how much overtime you've been putting in "to see how enthusiastic" you are. But right now, I'm thinking to myself "Bend with your knee's" Because i've got a killer sore back from the other day at work lol.
So benji mate, Congrats, I've said that a few times nowAnd please everyone stop calling me an asshole, B & I are pretty good mates...
Hmm this looks like a very long post to me, hmmm oh well Was worth it
Benji, you know how i wanted to come up to nsw, i'll move there in 4years... Aussies first Mechanical Auto Refinishing ShopMechanical work down front, Airbrushing, Spray painting & beating down the back
lol B&M Enhancements lol j/k
Talk to ya on msn dude.
Cheers

Congratulations Benji!! Well Done.
hey well done.
not to burst your bubble, but I'll give you one piece of advice. coles myer is very political. ignore the BS and concentrate or your work, and you'll stay sane and enjoy the job

I dont see what everyone was having a crack at Hozy for, people always dump on people who work at coles/maccas etc.
I saw exactly what he was sayign about kmart tyre and auto, its sorta, i dunno, shit and glitter work? It seems like you'd be given tasks from people that they dotn wanna do rather than be able to use any initiative. And well, everyone knows a good mechanic needs to know the scope of everything and whiel that comes with experience i guess thats what hozy forgot to mention :P
Anywho, congrats Benji, hope it all goes well, regardless of what happens try and learn what you are doing and the context of how it all works, take an interest in how to diagnose problems as well as why they happened. If you just be a 'yes man' and dont take an interest in why the problem is a problem then you probably wont get very far.
All the best mate
O, and Hozy, is that sticker on the back of your windscreen urs or from a past owner? Theres a little symbol i recognise![]()
Hmm Sticker, which one lol

Hmmm... I wonder where KRT get there mechanics/ pitcrew from...???
I'd be happy in any job that has a well equiped workshop... Anyhow the best work you can do as a Mechanic is Transmission work...you'll always have clean hands...and wont be spending 30mins each night scrubbing the dirt/grease out of your hands...
ask yourself this.... would you rather work in a tin shed, dirt floored, poorly lit, ill equiped, workshop and have to supply and wash your own overalls ???
I'm sure Kmart has better equipment than that...
