"Shot fired in police chase
The hunt for a man on the run from police in Melbourne's south east has ended with the apparent arrest of a man outside the Wheelers Hill Hotel just before 2.30pm.
Police spokeswoman Fiona Reid could not confirm the arrest, but said that east-bound lanes of Ferntree Gully Road had been closed.
Police were this afternoon hunting the man in a park after a police car was rammed.
Senior Constable Fiona Reid said the driver fled on foot after hitting the police car in Croydon North.
She confirmed that a shot was fired during the chase.
Constable Reid could not confirm that the man might be escaped prisoner Gary Stenhouse, 23, who broke out of a cell in the Frankston Court House yesterday morning.
Stenhouse had been on remand in relation to charges of burglary and thefts and conduct endangering life.
Details were still coming in, but it was believed an officer fired a single shot at the man on Exeter Road.
It is not clear if the man was hit before he fled into the Hochkins Ridge flora reserve.
"It looks like a police car's been rammed by another car and the offender has ran off," Constable Reid said.
"For some reason a shot has been fired, but it was from a police firearm we believe and no one's been hurt.
"A person's gone to gound, which just means he's hiding in parkland near Exeter Road in North Croydon. The air wing are there and they're looking for him."

WOW, lol there were armed police with bullet proof vests outside my house (with ford SUV's and 3 choppers)
my entire road was blocked off, sounds like a movie... not reality, apparenltly he escaped from prison and jacked a car in croydon
i live in croydon hills off exeter road... this was some crazy stuff.. :P nothing ususally happens up here
I live a 2 minute walk from the W/Hill pub.. Urgh.. I always miss out on the fun stuff..
Good stuff, years back we had a guy up the road with a rifle threatening this old dude because he didn't pay his bill or something. Many a cop car with bullet proof vests and rifles and guns and stuff, was awesome. Just couldn't leave the house for a few hours.
The guy that wouldn't pay was a total tight ass though, he was rich as hell and you could tell why. When the bloke lost control of his camper van and hit my parked vl. He wouldn't pay insurance, claiming I was illegally parked. Mind you he did in the end, I wasn't budging.
Whole area's blocked off.. I work 500metres from there..
F*CK!!! I start work in an hour.. Damn cops..
haha i didnt see the gunman, just saw a un-usual ammount of coppers blocking the roads, got my car searched aswell leaving the area, they checked the boot, maybe thought i was hiding him there lol, they found alot of things... 1. a large crow bar.... lol road rage bar... 2. a large mallet, 3. a sledge hammer, 4. a vn control arm. 5. lots of overly large pointy screw drivers
LOL MAN... yeah some crazy stuff happens... when i was living in lilydale, some dude stabbed some other dude in the carpark at the end of my street, same police tactics, block everything off.. they found him hiding in the park next to my house... (lilydale is where the the criminals hide)
They should of just shot dead the idiot, save some of my tax dollars for real spenditure like education and hospitals etc rather then prison.
lol if u ask me they should shoot all the dole bludgers dead... save ALOT of tax dollars.... then maybe we could get some decant roads built...
i had to go into center link to apply for my healthcare card so that i could undertake my course (its around 2k per year and i couldnt afford to study at that price... but it knocks it down to $400 per year)
anyway there is soo many people there that just dont try to get a job....and figure why get a job when someone else pays me to do nothing....
even when i was on workcover for 6 months NOT recieveing compensation due to a dodgy employer i didnt even apply for payments although i could of... i know people who just abuse the system so they dont have to work, meanwhile other hardworking people are paying excessive tax's to support people too lazy to find a job, for instance i have a mate... hes only ever worked one job in his life... for 3 months... his family isnt well off... he recieves centerlink payments (just him and his mum) because of that he recieves a large ammount... furthermore he just recieved $50,000 from a dead aunty... within 1 month he blew the ENTIRE $50k on crap he didnt need, now hes on the dole because hes too lazy to find a job, now he complains he has no money..., ive been working my ass off since i was 14... shit like that just pisses me off.. he worked at in fast food for 1 day.. and said it was too hard then complained the next day he had no money, i dont understand how somepeople get away with it sometimes... you just want to dob them all into centerlink.. but in the other hand you know if you do they dont have the motivation to find a job and they'll end up on the street.... its a system that destroys work ethic... i know when i was on workcover recieveing payments (for the first month) i didnt want to go back to work, but then after 2 months i had to return as i was soo poor, my car was off the road due to small things like fuel/DFI moduel... so i returned injured and ended up hurting my self worse and was off for another 3 months... somepeople just dont get the concept of work.. AND THATS WHAT GRINDS MY GEARS (lol family guy)
prisoners have rights... like the right to live... but dole bludgers have rights that they abuse... such as support... when infact if they got off their ass's they could dig them self out of the hole they were in...
Damn straight, dole bludgers are as annoying as criminalsOriginally Posted by PaRaDoX616

Heh.. you want criminal activity? Come to Hastings,
Few years back we had a local GP Shot, cause the patient (who was mentally [slightly] and physically ill) wasn't going to get the medication needed for him to survive another month.. Made it better by the patient who shot the GP lived on the corner of my court.. Police raids on his house, found countless firearms, knives etc etc.. News cars/reporters, SWAT team, you name it.. my front wheel of my 22" Mtn Bike on camera
Off Topic:
Don't go knocking people on the dole, ACTUAL bludgers, yes.. but people who are looking for work are exceptoined. I am on the 'dole', finding it quite hard to become employed, I apply for about 2 dozen jobs a week about 2-3 interviews a month. Waiting to hear from an employer today as to whether im employed or not..

Difference between being on the dole, and being a dole bludger.Originally Posted by tr3nt
