Hi people, this is by NO means to be taken in an offensive manner, it is simply a question, i would like to know how Muslim women are allowed to drive around, with a licence and have that head piece on (I'm not sure what it's called) and not get into trouble, i have seen heaps of women like this with those complete face covering pieces on, what about peripheral vision? isn't that way too dangerous to drive with, and why are they allowed to walk into a bank with their face covered, that would make it far to easy to rob someone, does anybody know?

lol! i think everyones thought of that at one stage... not sure if anyone actually got answers..
one thing has to do with human rights, like freedom to express religious rites or something like that i dunno

Speaking of such things, the other morning on the expressway, I saw a guy driving along with a towel in the drivers window to block out the sun - surely that has to be illegal, it totally blocks vision on his right hand side.

So that means i can simply say "Well i believe that i want to cover my face and walk into a bank and rob them because its part of my religion" there has already been lots of talk of men dressing up like Muslim women with the full face garb to steal things, and what if she is pulled over for a licence check and the cop asks her to remove her coverings and she says "no, I'm not allowed under my religion" and so the cop doesn't "offend" anybody he just lets her go without checking who she is????

How wpuld they get the photo for the licence in the first place? Our government has a lot to answer for with the double standards it has been setting all in the name of political correctness.
I have never liked this at all. It is bullshit that they get different treatment. Here in Melbourne VICRoads is open on perticular times with female staff only so they can take the license photos of the muslim women, minus the head dress.Originally Posted by Panelvan1975
Whats the point of this when the copped pulling them up, cant get them to remove it to verify there appearance.
On the topic of banks I think it is stupid on the governments behalf. You have to remove a motorbike helmet when you go in, but can where the head dress?? Doesnt make sence...........
Im all for allowing people to express there religous rights, but it reaches a point where it is impracticle, unfair to the rest and downright dangerous.

I agree, the reason why photo licence were introduced was to establish identity. How can one do this if a person is wearing garments which conceal their identity. It is political correctness gone ridiculous. I think the government are putting cultural sensitivity ahead of public safety.
Thats why i like the idea of John Howards national Identity card. No longer can your identity be stolen, everyones prints are on record(meaning most criminals are caught) and last but not least, people like these women that wear head dress MUST remove all head dress when asked by ANY officer of the law when being checked.Originally Posted by Julie

I'd imagine the only people that would be against it are the people that have something to hide?
Ive always thought the same thing. I dont get why people wouldn't do it. Imagine a family member being murdered, police find DNA and the next week the killer is being put on trial and jailed. Seems great to me.Originally Posted by Bax
Better yet stand behind one wearing a head dress in the bank and yell out
"this is a hold up!" Then lay down on the floor quick smart.![]()

IMHO these head garments should be treated as any other item of clothing, if you are asked to remove it by an oficer of the law then you have to do it. Same goes for banks/petrol stations etc.
What pisses me off is how girls at school get to wear these things even though they are against school uniform, they pull the religion card and all is well. What a crock, no way i'd send my kids to a school who allowed that crap

well i always thought the LAW would over ride any religeous things.... as far as i know here in QLD musluims have to show their face for a licence pic.. i know that in the musluim arab countries that musluim women are NOT alowed to drive or go to school... beats me why that musluims laws change on depending what country they are in... i wonder would happen if suddenly 95 % of australians overnight became musluims... LOL are all the women going to drive around with a bag over their head... wait till i ask my wife if we are going to become muslums...
just a quick note before anything gets too nasty, this is a great topic to discuss, but be careful of close you get to being rude or applying stereotype (ie muslims and bombs as mentioned above.
in teh servo i used to work in, we werent allowed to open the door to anyone in a motorbike helmet, it must have been inconvenient for them but they always removed the helmet with no fuss. i never had the chance to do the same for a religious garment but wonder if they would have been as accomodating of our conditions of entry.
i agree that some things are going too far. im sure there are parts of the world where religion is ok with... for example, having sex with a minor (ok probably a poor example but i bet not all places adhere to the same rules of knowledge as we do).
We certainly do not allow religion to overpower things liek that, so why should it be above the law in any case?
its just another case of australia - like it or leave.
these people need to learn to adapt to our way of life or go home

the way i see it is that if you live here you follow our laws. you should NOT have the right to pick and choose what laws you follow just because of your religion
also, i agree with what troy said in post 22. we dont get to pick what laws we follow, why should immigrants

steer clear of the violence lads.
ive seen one of those stickers and thought it was idiotic to say the least. Certainly doesnt help matters. didnt help my opinion that the wacko in the ute also had pornographic cartoon stickers all over the bogan-mobile as well.
You guys are taking it abit far. Sure I don't think they should be allowed to refuse to take off the covering if asked by the police or something but other than that I don't ahve a problem with someone walking down the street a covering accross their whole face.
I hate people that try and push their religous beleifs onto other people, and that goes for atheists too.
