    Default Relaxation

    Hi guys,
Well being a Friday im sure everyone is stressed out from a long week, and i come home to read the following comment on the internet after posting a link to the new shots of the VE. It got me pretty ticked off and i had a good rant back at him, made me feel better lol, so i thought i'd give you all the opportunity if you want, it's relaxing to get it all out

    [Start]
"I have a mate who has been a design engineer with Holden since the VR/VS Commodores. He refuses to get one.

    Enough said

Just had a look at the pic, it's very derivative of the Vauxhall/Opel Cavalier - and parts of it are very reminiscent of the Toyota Aurion

(PS. you also realise that the VX/VZ took styling cues from the AU Falcon (of all cars!!!))

I used to have a VT once upon a time as a company car. Looked good, but that's about the best thing I can say for it At least with the VX they got rid of the 1970s designed old cast iron 3.8 litre piece of junk motor they bought from Buick. "

I can understand what your saying, but last I checked, the VT and VX have the same engine in any spec model, just with a few tweeks. The only diference was the VT S1 V8, which had the 5.0l instead of the LS1.
but anyways, IMO these new cars have way too much bulk for the power output. Newest I'd go is a VX with massive engine work to get it moving.

Oh, and another thing. The replacement for the "cast iron piece of junk bought from buick" , is again bought from buick. right upto the start of the VZ

Heh... Buick 3800 was used til the VR.. VS had the ecotec.. which as above.. is basically the same thing.

Some design engineer you have there I'd like to see a buick 3.8 pushing along that lump of a VT.

matty matty matty, an "ecotec" as we call it, is a buick 3800.
but it's next-gen. and even then, VT's are too bargearsed to be pushed with the baby 3.8

To be fair, the ecotec shares virtually no parts with it's earlier versions. One can most definatly trace it's origions back for many years, just the same as the GenIII, Fords i6 etc etc etc. What we class as the latest and greatest "high tech" in most cases is anything but. Did you know that overhead cams and fuel injection goes back to the 40's or earlier???

why does everyone insist on calling the 3.8 a Buick? It's just GM not a Buick. It's just happens that GM own Buick and the motor is used in Pontiacs, Buicks, Chevs, Oldsmobile and bajillion other vehicles.
