Default Telemarketers - I got THEIR NUMBER!!

A telemarketer rang me before while I was enjoying a feed and the stupid person forgot to hide their phone number. I got it now.

Should I get pay back on the annoying pricks?

call them and ask if they want to buy an insurance policy. when they say no just keep talking. then abuse them for not wanting to listen, thats pretty much what they do to me. next time one of them calls here im guna throw a few 'f's and 'c's their way so they stop calling. i hate when they dont take no for an answer!

swearing and yelling at these people isn't going to do a damn thing. they would cop it all day, every day so it is a waste of breath. just hang up as soon as you figure out who they are.

I always ask them their number and I tell that I will ring them back when they are having dinner or watching their favourite TV show or helping their kids with the homework. Then I hang up on them.

If I have time I start telling them about some of my (imagined), personal problems and health issues and just keep them on the phone for as long as possible.

Everytime I feel that they are going to hang up I let up a little and ask them about their product/service just enough to keep them on the phone before guiding the conversation back to some other totally unrelated topic.

About 30 minutes is my record but I only do this when I am extremely bored.

They keep asking to speak to my dad about a "business opportunity"..

Once they start to get the message you're not interested, they'll just hang up on you mid sentence..

    The international ones..

The local ones are a bit more polite..

Do you have a dial-up modem? Could be good for a laugh entering their number into the computer and have it automaticly redial 99 times (and they cop an earful of screeching). If they cry abuse, hey they started it by calling you lol

07 54 is a south east queensland regional number, so it could be the sunshine coast...or the gold coast or beaudesert or rosewood, in other words its a big area. But yeah, post it here and everyone call them. What were they trying to sell?

I used to work for a company that wanted me to set up a computer. What they do is call you, then when you answer it puts YOU on hold til someone is available to preach to you.

My favourite is when i ask them if they can hold on for just a minute. Then i walk away and leave the phone off the hook. I give it a good 30 or 40 minutes before i go back and hang up. LOL

What happened in the original conversation? Ie was it polite no thanks ok cya, they let you hang up, or were they rude like most and hang up when you're mid sentence? What were they selling?

Just think it would be a good to know - incase you end up giving out the number. Sets the scene for how rude or polite we can be when we ring up

If you call the number back, all you get is the company's receptionist sitting in a different room to the telemarketers, or an answermachine, or a computer trying to sell you stuff. Say they have 50 telemarketers, with a phone each... whichever one calls you, it doesn't matter as they all display the same number. What you want is their EXTENSION NUMBER (a variation in the last four numbers ) to be able to call the exact phone back
