Hey
I was just looking for a file buried somewhere in my computer and I came across some msn dump files. I don’t think these are conversations I have saved or anything because I thought I disabled that option. I was wondering if anyone knows what they were and if I need them. they are taking up about 2 gig. I found them in c:\windows\internet logs and they range in size from 20meg to 90 meg in size. They have a .dmp file extension and are all zipped.
eh...I don't use that.

burn them to a cd or somethin, then delete from your comp. if the puter runs lkike shit they're needed for something, so put them back on. if not, you've got some new coffee coasters
i got MSN too... i did a file search and dont have that foler or files....being log files its possable you have got SPYWARE on your comp.... if you havent got any spyware scanner prog.... go to www.xoftspy.com download the trial and scan with it.....
Are you running a beta version? If so it could possibly be debugging information or something to help developers/whatever
the beta has no such log files.
I doubt it's anything legit.. when you think about it.. 30mb is ALOT of text.. that's just one file.. 2gb is insane.
Driving a CURSED WH V6.

have you had any BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) while running messenger. if so when one of these blue screens appears, they do a memory dump, meaning that they put everything that is in memory in a .dmp file this is used for debugging the blue screen errors.![]()
You can see where these files are being saved by:
1. Right click the "My Computer" icon
2. Select "properties" in the menu
3. Click on the "ADVANCED TAB"
4. Click on the "settings" button in the section titled "Startup and Recovery"
5. You will see a section on the next screen that is titled "Write Debugging Information"
6. In this section it has the folder where it is saving the .DMP files Usually the folder is set to "%SystemRoot%\Minidump" (meaning C:\Windows\Minidump) (Sound like yours is set to C:\Windows\Internet Logs\ or something!!!)
It also has a box above it with what type of dump it will do. If it is set to Small memory dump it will only dump the important debugging information from the memory into this .DMP file. If it is set to COMPLETE MEMORY DUMP it will save everything that is in memory when the computer crashes to one of these .DMP files.![]()
If you have a fair few of these .DMP files it means that your computer is crashing regularly and should take it to a computer technician for them to run tests on the hardware.![]()
Are you running ZONE ALARM if so read this:
