Question Towing a 12 volt electric brakes with 24 volt vehicle..??

my wife mostly uses our VX so i bought 2 ton Mitsubishi Canter small truck..... works good as second run around and can use it to carry big stuff and dump rubbish.... but the my problem is.... i have a tandem trailer and the lights and electrict brakes are 12 volt... the Canter is 24 volt... i can always use a Light Bar clamped to the back of the trailer and run a seperate wiring lead from that to the truck and use 24 volt bulbs in that.....My question is there any way to reduce the 24 volt to 12 volt that runs from the truck brake light through the trailer connector to 12 volts.... maybe fit something to my trailer... i already have a circular turning resister for adjusting the power to the electric brakes.... just turn the knob... Would this resister work okay with 24 volts ?... i know my brakes might still come on a bit hard using it... also i was worried i might burn out the electric magnets in the brakes....

tou will need a 12 volt reducer, they are about $200-$300 from an auto electrician, make sure he wires it up other wise you will have problems with one of your batteries going flat and fails to make 24 volts which gives you no end of troubles....
