After hours of groveling nagging and showering with gifts , my son gave in and said my wife and I could come and watch his band play at the “Venue “ as long as we behaved ourselves . So after paying our $5.00 each I went down the front to take some pics of the band playing unbenowns to me that this is also where the mosh pit is .
Boy did I get an education that night . First of all there were guys dancing with guys , which is ok by me I suppose . Then they started bumping into each other, then they started bashing the crap out of the nearest person they could find while they were dancing . When the music stopped they all patted each other on the back and laughed , talked and had a drink . Then bugger me dead when the music started up they went through the whole ritual again belting and thumping each other .
Can some of you younger people on here tell me if this is normal ?
I did learn a few things though ,and that is I now know the difference between a “Goth” and an “Emo “ It doesn’t matter if you can’t sing cos you can scream , and all the instruments are played at a different speed .
When we got home I looked at my son and said “ you guys are scary “ he just shook his head and walked away . Then he came back and said “ dad you know what ?
I know just about all the words to all the old songs you and mum play . Now that’s REALLY scary

In hindsight when i was his age ( 18 ) i used to be a drummer , and when i used to play the tapes of our band to my folks they used to give me a strange look and say " hmmmmmm thats good son "

Hows this for old, im listening to [Mark Williams] - Show No Mercy great song and im 23!! or [Foreigner] - I Want To Know What Love Is another classic
.:Blown VT V6, DAJ37:.
Ive been to those shows, and damn, they can be fun, an education, and scary all at once.
I also go to shows of a band from LA with my old man, the best shows ever from these guys, and me and dad are now good friends with the band.
But in comparison, the crowd at their shows can be lame as
i'm not good at moshing. i have big feet and used to play volley ball, so when i jump, i jump high.

Reminds me of a classic song from a classic band - Exodus
THE TOXIC WALTZ
Here's a new dance craze
That's sweeping the nation
It's called the Toxic Waltz
And it's causing devastation
You're jumping up and down
Like a psycho circus clown
Slamming with waltzers
All the way around
You get caught up in the whip
Thrown into a flip
You aim for someone's head
To stain the floor red
Give someone a kick
To prove you're truly sick
Bounce back from some blows
And blood runs out your nose
Flailing round and round
And you're injury bound
Waltz it up!
The pit is it!
You can take your chance
On this rough new dance
If you dare!
To dive in!
There are some that try
But they don't survive
They don't hit!
'cause they're wimps!
And this exercise
helps you brutalize
With us!
Exodus!
(chorus)
Everybody's doing the toxic waltz
Kick your friend in the head and have a ball
Come on and do the toxic waltz
And slam your partner against the wall
Everybody's doing the toxic waltz
Good friendly violent fun in store for all
Get up off your ass and toxic waltz
If you hit the floor
You can always crawl!
Used to do the monkey
but now it's not cool
The twist and mashed potato
are no exception to the rule
So don't be a dunce
and dance like a runt
Just throw your elbows
with good friendly violent fun
don't start to cry
if you get a black eye
just dive back in
and give another try
but too much action
may leave you in traction
so you better get insurance
no matter your endurance
flailing round and round
and you're injury bound
Waltz it up!
The pit is it!
You can take your chance
on the rough new dance
If you dare!
to dive in!
There are some that try
but they wont survive
They dont hit!
'cause they're wimps!
And this exercise
Helps you brutalize
With us!
Exodus!
(chorus)
Everybody's doing the Toxic Waltz
Kick your friend in the head and have a ball
Come on and do the toxic waltz
and slam your partner against the wall
everybody's doing the toxic waltz
good friendly violent fun in store for all
get up off your ass and toxic waltz
if you hit the floor you can always crawl!
Get up on your feet
Don't look so obsolete
And thrash like an athlete!
Don't sit there on your ass
Don't look like you got too much class
you'll be harassed!
You know we guarantee
This is the key
So rage or get the third degree!
You begin frontal assaults
and start your somersaults
And do the toxic waltz!
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
yeah that's pretty normal for a mosh pit. watch the korn set from first family values tour, they were the last band to play, and the crowd was pretty placid through other acts (limp bizkit, orgy, ice cube and rammstein) but as soon as the first riff of the first korn song is played, the crowd goes nuts and starts flogging eachother. remember big day out a few years back? limp bizkit actually stopped playing (the first song of their set) and fred durst said something like "if you lot don't settle down we're leaving". and anyway, somewhere through the set, there was a massive crush, a few people were hospitalised and one girl died.
my only event in the mosh was a concert put on for a youth festival and I was up the front with a group of friends, when a mob of 7 or 8 guys all came behind me and had a turn in punching me in the back or in my head, saying it was mistaken identity, but we later found out they were just looking to gang bash someone, and I wasthe pick. good thing I didn't return the favour...
unfortunately, violence in mosh pits seems to be both acceptable and the norm.
Yep, Acid, E, meth, rock music and teenagers arent a good mix lol!
lol i had a good laugh when my sister went into the greenday moshpit (i wasnt there), my sister went and got kicked in the head, needed to be taken to hospital.
How do you get kicked in the head????? that guy musta been doing highjump in the moshpit ffs
rolf..thats what you get i spose, a mosh isnt the best place for the faint of heart....people get pretty amped up by the music and if they're off their face on something it can get very rough...at one of my old gigs we had a guy climb the lighting truss and jump into the mosh (all of about 5m straight down).
