Picked up my new radiator this morning, was a bit surprised that it was covered with "Repackaged by Australia post" stickers. Opened it up until to find some idiot had made a total balls of it, looks like someone has reversed over it, the whole thing has been bent into a bow shape.
:b:
that sucks man, would the insurance cover it?
should find out how the seller packed it....
thats shitful. im glad your postal insurance will cover it.
It was only sent by registered post so not sure if I will get any damages. I only opened the corner of the box then took it straight back to the post office and filled out an official complaint form. They are holding onto it until the manager can look at it on monday, worst case if I don't get any damages it might still fit in, that's if it's not leaking!
yeah registered post great but what about the postal insurance you took out?
Unfortunately I don't think there was any insurance on it but I will double check with the company that sent it.
pretty sure reg post also covers insurance, but I've been wrong before.
hey, at least your stuff has arrived. I'm still waiting for a mobile phone and door skins bought 2 weeks ago![]()
Aus Post is a joke. I ordered some DVD's off eBay ages ago, and it took 4 months, and endless phone calls to the head office before I got sent a money orderr to cover the replacement costs. I had the receipt from the person I bought them off, to prove they did send them so that wasn't a worry. But yeah, 4 months is ridiculous to wait for a money order that takes 30 secs to write up. :b:
4 months is pretty bad, I was only waiting for 3 weeks for my radiator to come from the other side of the city.
I think you could be right, think registered covers $100 insurance, hopefully!
I think that's correct...you're covered up to $100 on lost/damaged items, if I remember correctly...wait to see what happens with the manager anyway...also, ring the head office in your state too.Originally Posted by paddyj
If I get a 100 back I'll only lose out 65 so it won't be too bad, unless I get to keep the damaged radiator also, then I might be able to sell it on ebay, somebody out there will be able to repair it.
yeah that sux, sometimes things get damaged and mishandled.. Accidents happen just hope ya get some cash for urs.

You'd think the original sender would have enuff brains to put a 'fragile"sticker or ten on the box.
Australia Post should be used for sending mail only... not freight. Anyone sending freight should use a freight company... such as StarTrack Express for example *plug*![]()
It only makes sense...
IRS: Its a love/hate thing.
VP Calais...best holden ive owned so far...

G'day all,

I ended up going to the Federal Communications Ombudsman and won.
Australia Post can be a joke, thats for sure

Australia Post are a bunch of ****heads. Ive had vinyl sent from overseas which arrives through international postage handlers in perfect condition, as soon as Australia Post get it, its rooted. They dont care at all. There was one postie who decided that since a 12" (which was clearly marked as a record) wouldnt fit in our postbox, he was best to leave it sitting under it, in the sun - on the footpath! If he bought it up to the house and left it in the shade if nobody was home that would have been fine, but we were home at the time. When a package is undeliverable theyre meant to leave a note and take it back to the depot. So I went and complained, the girl kinda looked at me blankly then he manager who was listening came over and said 'tell the gentleman we dont offer a fragile goods service', so I said 'Whats stanard practice then, just leave packages lying on the footpath?'...she looked blankly and quietly told me to fill out a form. Useless.
And star track express arent much better, the only time I used them I had 4 boxes shipped at once, only 3 arrived.

Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
PM with any info.
I've been using AusPost for all our eBay transactions (both buying and selling except for the overseas stuff, but when they get to Australia they do it).. havn't had a single problem thusfar! Although I do disagree with their cubing rules, I have found a workaround so I'm able to post massive sized things and the only thing they're allowed to measure for postage is the weight, not the dimensions![]()
Got a letter from Australia Post today (after 8 weeks of ringing them) saying that the item was not sufficiently packaged so they won't be giving me any compensation.
In their terms and conditions they state that they will only pay insurance claims "if the article was in Australia Post's reasonable opinion adequately packed". I reckon they use this "Inadequate Packaging" excuse for every insurance claim they get.
They also said "The above mentioned item was received into Australia in a damaged condition as noted in our inbound mail area." It never "came into" Australia it was posted from SA to NSW, what idiots.
As someone suggested earlier I have lodged a complaint with the Ombudsman www.comb.gov.au
