Worst Day Ever!

It was my day off and we had planed to sleep in and then go shopping. we woke up at about 12 and was dressed and in the car to go by 12:30pm. we sarted her up then went to take off but she stalled straight away and wouldn't start again.

now latly we've been having problems with her and after bout 30mins of playing with the usual suspects we decided she mite need new sparky leeds (knowing full well that she should still run,but we figurd that the troubles we've been having for a while mite have finally givin way).

so we got down the street and spent $60 on new leads,got back and changed them all over. the oldies were trashed. went to start her and it still wouldn't kick over.

After a while John got home and tried a few things and he didn't know what it was. i was getting quiet cranky by this point and slammed the door shut forgeting i had locked all the doors (central locking)! now the keys were stuck in the ignition with it on. GRRRR! my mobile was also on the seat and i need it for numbers!!

I called RACV and they couldn't help me because don't own a credit card, so we called Mick who called Jason and he came around. after about 40mins we finally unlocked the doors and i got my phone and the keys back.

then we thought it mite be just out fuel as the fuel gauge is broken. we pushed it to the other side of the road to move the fuel over towards the pump and still wouldn't start. we found a jeri can and went down and filled it up then put it in the car. sure enough it was fuel!!

3.5 hours and $70 later the shops were just about closed but i still got what i wanted.

that sucks. if you want a free dash cluster (with working fuel gauge) i can send you one, it'll just cost you postage from brisbane, but you may be able to find one cheaper down there.

i've been told that it could be the wires behind the cluster.... not sure,what you think?

if it is wiring, check the one's on your tank first

i have,i took it in to an auto elec and they changed the fuel sender,over charged me,ripped me off,fu<ked me over,blew four fuel pumps and still nothings changed :-|

all i can suggest is, put on a gruff voice, call your local wreckers and ask for a new dash cluster, then when you pull apart your dash you can test it then.

without another one to test it on it'll be hard to determine. and i figure you aren't after another auto elecy bill.......

Yes, things happen in life that distract you from how much fuel you have in your car but if you know it's broken wouldnt it be the 1st thing youd think of?

As said above, it sucks when stuff like this happens but if missing out on some shopping time is the worst day of your life you have nothing to worry about.

well for starters... it wasn't the shopping that fu<ked me it was the fact it happened on my day off..... and with the fuel gauge,i DID try to get it fixed,ended up getting ripped off and fu<ked over and it still doesn't work! and the reason we brought new leads is because the last few weeks she's been running like she was to rich or something LIKE that,so we thought that the leads mite have finally given way and i put fuel in it two days and with my new job and living at two house at once i forgot how much driving you actually do. now if you would like to have more of a winge,go on the god damn oprah show,cuz her black arse mite care more about what you have to say,because were here bout cars,not to listen to you badger on people....
