A few months ago when I got home from work there was this guy sitting in a car out the front of my house '.About an hour later I took the dog for a walk , and when I got back he had the bonnet up so I asked him if he needed a hand . He said no its ok the car always played up and he would have it fixed in a minute. He was still out there when it starting getting dark, I went out and asked if he wanted a torch or something , again he declined .A bit later another car pulled up and the guy got into it and drove off .
When the wife got home from work she said there was a car out the front with its interior light on .I went out and the window was also down and the ignition lock had been ripped out and the steering wheel had been cut with a hacksaw or something .
I rang the cops and gave them all the details and they told me that the car had been stolen earlier in the day and that they would come around and check it out .Well about 2 hours later they finally came knocking at my door and I gave them all the details as to what I'd seen .Well the car sat there for another week so I had a look through the window and there was a gas bill sitting on the floor. I grabbed the bill and managed to trace the owner and gave him a ring . Well the cops never notified him and he was over the moon when I told him where his car was as he never thought he would see it again .When he came to pick it up he offered me $100 reward but I told him to keep it and put it towards buying a new steering lock as the poor bugger had no insurance .
Cops , don't you just love 'em

typical...............nuff said
how dodgy is that? maybe they thought he had insurance and he would get a payout if it was not found. strange.
good on ya for giving him a call though, i wouldve been glad someone called aswell.
yeah good on ya for telling him, that would be the worst thing about having a car stolen, not knowing whats happened to it.
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
PM with any info.
yeah, what hakhawk said, good on ya for taking the matter into your own hands. i know i'd appreciate it if it was done for me
we need more people like YOU in the police force
See, civilians seem to be onto getting things done more than coppers. But, on the other hand, I guess I don't really know the amount of work they have to do each day, and prioritising things too...guess stolen cars would be at the bottom of the list of work to chase up, kinda sucks, but guess it's just the way it goes.
See, if I did that, the guy would accuse me of stealing it, and calling him to try and get a reward!!! Lol, I guess i'm not very trustworthy-looking/sounding...
It's people like u mate, that makes me proud to bein this Country, good job, and also nice move on declining the money, poor bugga tho!!Originally Posted by Dayvo

Engine will still be sloow!!!!! ;-)
Just making sure that the guy got his car back with relatively minor damage was good enough reward for me

ur a champion, i'd just stuff the money in ur letterbox and run away for finding my car
I'd try to do whatever i could to help eg. call owner etc out but we need more people like you around, it's what makes aussie mateship a reality

Good work. You should be glad the cops didnt accuse you of stealing it though!

Unfortunatly Aussie mateship is a dying tradition, our value's as a country are being diminished as we allow more and more immigrant's into the country and along with this political correctness crap it's all just become a joke.Originally Posted by ProMaX

It's not immigrants which are ruining Australian mateship. It's globalisation and the interconnectedness of the world. People are becoming global citizens not Australian citizens..Originally Posted by minux
That means more global competition, people have to work harder for less.
Australia's changed a lot since 40 years ago, I wouldn't say it's because of immigrants though.
Australia's a fairly new country and culture, it's changing with the world. Look at somewhere like the USA where despite a huge immigrant population, the fundamental US values haven't changed much..
You can blame immigrants for all the problems if you like. It's incorrect though..
Thanks for the Neg Feedback Dayvo, next time leave your name if your going to call someone something....
