1. Does anybody know the quickest 0 - 160kmh time for a stock Holden?
2. Does anybody know what the quickest factory-built sedan is in the world?
Just interested to see the answers.

I think the new BMW M5 might be up there as the quickest production sedan.
Do you mean quickest in a straight line or quickest on a track or quickest over the 1/4??
"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
- Theodor Seuss Geisel
Straight line, 0 - 100, 0 - 160 and 1/4.
Could be on a track but I don't know that answer for sure.
Four door true sedans only.

I would probably say some of the Mercedes would be up there.
The HSV GTS 4 door sedan (300kw version) was the fastest sedan in the world when it came out...but eventually got eclipsed by a Mercedes...and Mercedes would definitely still be up there.
0-160km/h times are hard to find tho
i would guess it would be a battle between a bentley continental flying spur, the latest BMW M5, the MB S65 AMG and MB E55 AMG all of them do 0-100kph in under 5 seconds
0-160 times? I didn't even know they existed.
I'm sure google would bring up a Holden list of specs 0-100 times and 1/4 mile times. Just a matter of digging.
OK, below are this cars performance figures.
Not a Merc, BMW or Bentley.
The car is a factory backed and fully warranteed model from the makers performance arm, same situation as HSV vehicles.
Horsepower@rpm 405hp (303kW)
Torque 480.77nm@5000
0-100 kph 3.7 sec
0-160 kph 9.1 sec
0-400m 11.83 @ 119.95mph
Top Speed 280kph

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII MR FQ400
This isn't the most powerful sedan, it isn't even the most powerful Lancer Evo. It is, however, the quickest factory-built sedan ever made! Mitsubishi UK and Ralliart, along with tuning firms Rampage, Owen Developments and Flow Race Engines, went to town with the Evo FQ320's 2.0-litre turbo-four to the tune of 400hp and 355 lb-ft of torque using a bespoke Garrett GT turbo, forged pistons and con rods, new injectors, fuel pump, head gasket, exhaust manifold, sports cat and ECU. Heavy duty Alcon clutch and brake kits and a collection of minor exterior touch ups round off the package. Finally, a driver training course is included with every car. Notice that the chassis, which was balanced and forgiving and hugely grippy in the standard Evo, likewise in the more powerful FQ300 and again in the yet-more-powerful FQ330, remains unchanged for the 'ultimate-Evo' FQ400. The ride's crap, but who cares.
The press release throws comparisons to the Pagani Zonda, whose driver will indeed be in for quite an embarrassing experience should he choose to race the seven-times-cheaper FQ400. Remember though that the Pagani is a hand-crafted, carbon-fibre, 210mph car and, of course, imagine arriving at a fancy hotel in an Evo MR or a Pagani Zonda: it won't be the Pagani the valets will park in a dark corner of the underground garage. So once you're back in the pits, don't gloat, but don't apologize: it's an experience no supercar driver will soon forget.
The Evo FQ400 is really in a class of its own: it's meant to do one thing, and one thing only, and that's being 'king Quick. No other car does it better. You're looking for luxury? Smooth highway cruising? Making an impression on the ladies? Look elsewhere. This ride here is for those of you who bring a field gun to a knife fight, who supercharge their Hayabusas and think Jordan would be perfect, were her breasts only a little bigger. The FQ400 is the most outrageous street-legal, warranty-covered four-door ever imagined! Did I mention this thing's faster than a Zonda?

i wonder where the old xy gt-ho phase lll fits into this, cos i can remember it being the quickest sedan in the world at the time
The HO was actually the Fastest not quickest four door in the world for a couple of weeks until the Merc Grosser 6.9 litre took it's title.
Fastest meaning top speed.
I'm gonna have to look up if any four door was actually quicker at the time because I can't think of one off the top of my head.
Edit: The 6.9 appeared in 74 so it was the 6.3 with a top speed tested between 137 & 145mph.

wow, the fact it wasn't a VN commodore is going to shatter a lot of egos.
hmm...i still don't think such a low-volume car counts, personally...
The VN Group A SS Had a Estimated top speed of 451kph with the gear ratio but could never amount to anything over 253kph in testing.
The GTO Phase 3 had the ability to go from 0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds and 0-160km/h in 15 second. Pretty slow aa. top speed 240kph 15.2 1/4 mile. Did you also know their was a Phase 4 built . 3 cars only ever built.
Their is also another classic boys and girls the Charger R/T E49 . running 14.4 1/4 mile which was a 4.3 litre straight six.
Tried to find info on 70-71 four door cars. Hard to find. In 69 and 72 there were four door cars faster and quicker than an HO Phase III but none listed for 71.
E49 0-60mph 6.1, 0 - 100mph 14.1, 1/4-14.4. Top speed 211kmh
Phase III 0-60mph 6.2, 0 - 100 14.4, 1/4-14.6 or 14.5 Top speed 229kmh (as tested but some claim up to 250kmh which is not true)

the only problem with that is that the charger is a 2 door. making it instatly better, even if it was much slower
