Servicing for Slabs..

Back in the Ratattack days we nearly had a little thing get underway. Where people with a fair bit of car knowledge help out those who don't.. Basically, someone will come out and help you do an oil change and the basic few things for a slab or about $50 (only labour)..

For some reason this never really got underway. But I think it would be an excellent thing for the site, especially given the number of people living in major cities..

The only thing that has to be made clear is that it's a no liability thing. Ie. someone going crazy over their transmission blowing up after someones helped them change their engine oil..

If there is an acceptance of no liability (anyway, you can't really screw up an oil change), then I think this would be great..

Oil changes, filters, plugs, leads and all that jazz may sound easy but they're not for everyone..

Anyone interested in this? And are mods cool with this, provided JC are no more then intemediaries..

I've already started my own "roadside assistance" service LOL bailing out a fellow member the other day stuck in the rain with a flat battery. went home around the corner and lent him a battery.

Just thought of another thing. The only other issue I can think of is people bitching about the service they received. So and so was meant to do this and f*cked it up, etc..

If a.) a no liability disclaimer was signed and b.) people were prevented from bitching about it on the forum (it could damage peoples reputations over potentially nothing)..

ive done it a few times

put the motor and gearbox in ratt's son's car, made it work, and done a few other things.

put motors and boxes in all sorts of things
re-wired a complete vn
fault finded on so many vn, vp, vr, vt commo's it's not funny

i for one wont be taking part in this, the service i provided to members at one stage or another has been abused, never once received any money or beer or anything in return by anyone.

ill be more than willing to get people over to look at my cars, (barina only) the vn is my little toy.
but ill suport where ever i can in what ever way i can

Sorry to hear about the scepticism mate, but from what I understood, you and Ratt were somewhat mates..

This isn't like helping a mate do an oil change where you just do it. Or helping your brother with his maths homework..

This is more like an arrangement where someone agree's to help out/show someone the basics of a service.

It's friendly, but not friendly enough to just do it. If that makes sense..

i probably should have worded my post a little bit better,
i didnt care about ratt's thing, i didnt expect payment for that, it's other people where i stated my price, i did the work, (cause they agree'd) and i never received payment. which is anoying

but ill suport where needed.

Yeah. I only drink VB if I'm really out on the piss.. If I drink for enjoyment (99% of the time), I'll only drink European beers. Only a few Aussie boutique breweries come close to the mass produced European ones...

But anyway..

sounds like a good idea...ppl will need to build a rapport with whomever is to be helping them out and it will be a "use at own risk" thing i would presume.

Sounds like a good idea IMO, it will certainly help those who aren't as confident with repairing their cars.

I do most of the stuff on my cars but have no access to a workshop, pit, etc so this should be great...

BTW, anyone on here know a good place to go for a RWC ?

my brother took my struts in to change my front springs and the guy said it'll cost a 6 pack, my bro went back with cash, lol, the guy was disappointed but next time he'll know to be serious when saying he wants a 6er
