erm, i dont see the problem, they still only issue hem to people who havent paid parking, or have expired. I think it's kickass, the more they do it, the more chance i have getting a car park in the city.

how bout this one....my car was written off one night in late october (bent my front left swing arm in half almost) it was rooted, wheel was practically under the car, and i managed to get it round the corner and into a car park(kinda) but the thing was, it was a disabled carpark. i left my car over night coz it obviously wasnt going anywhere. rang the towing company and all that the the next day and by the time i got to my car (about 1pm) i had a $50- ticket! WTF is that shit...my car was unable to move and the only reason it was in the disabled zone was so it wasnt in the middle of the road. i wrote to the council, they replied with a bigger fine...i then got a copy of an invoice off the towing company and sent that off with another letter...replied with "your case is under review"...i then get sent a bigger fine from the councils solicitors. there was no actual letters sent to me, just bigger fines each time. i then wrote a quite stern letter, again outlining the events leading up to it and all that... pretty much said, im not paying it coz its a ###ing joke, but not in those words obviously.... and it is still going....havent heard back as yet. ###n scumbags

you were still parked in a disabled spot, if it had of been moved early in the morning or on the night it happened i doubt you would have been fined but you have said you didnt go back until 1pm the next day, it was at a shopping centre you were taking up a spot reserved for disabled people, where do you expect them to park?
it was at the top of an esplanade that leads down to the beach...how many people in wheelchairs go down the beach? how do you expect...actually no im not gonna waste my time. my car was UNMOVABLE and was either leave it there, or leave it in the middle of the road...
and i called the tow company at 10, didnt call me back till 1230 to say they are ready to get it, the ticket was issued at 12:27pm, thats right, half an hour before my car was towed...

Having lunch with friends at Ricketts Point a few years back, parked in beach side c/park and purchased ticket which was left on dashboard in plain view. Returned to the car 1hr15mins later, (2hr park space), to find a $100 fine. Caught up with council inspector booking others and showed him the sign and ticket and fine, he said the signs were wrong and hadn't been changed yet. Friends had recieved fine as well but they luckily had a digital cam with them. Photos were taken of signs, cars in parking area and tickets, letters were sent to the council who dragged the issue out long enuff to issue late payment penalty. Finally after 4 months and 2 letters from a QC they backed down and rescinded all fines. Stupid thing is the parking area is still sign posted for 2hrs parking.

no, they arent scumbags. almost all tow companies i know of run a 24hr service. you had another option. ringing the towies at 10am the next day isnt exactly early either...Originally Posted by _Mukas_
yes they are scumbags, doing there job i know but ###! my car was ###t for gods sake, am i gonna leave my car in the middle of the road? and where does one exactly suggest i take it if i did get a tow? i couldnt exactly take it to my mechanic to see how bad it was could i, and at the price of a tow im wasnt gonna get it carted to my house then call another tow in the morning to take it past where it was left to get to the mechanics... i wouldve thought that was common sense...
since my initial post i have received confirmation that the fine has been withdrawn... bout ###n time too...

you got a tow the next day. why not get a tow that night was what i was wondering. or earlier the next day. you say the ticket was issued just before you had the car moved..... wouldnt have happened if you had it moved earlier!!
blame your driving... wouldnt have been there in any other case!
You could of simply called your insurance company? Wouldn't that of made the most sense lol?Originally Posted by _Mukas_

sorry for the late reply but i forgot i replied in this thread
you dont have to be disabled to get a disabled parking permit, my brother-in-laws moher has MS, they have a disabled permit because she is unable to walk very far without her frame and even then it is at a slow pace.Originally Posted by _Mukas_
well you drive it from where you first did the damage, and by the sound of it you drove it so no one that witnessed what happened would be around to call police etc.(thats may opinion which may not be correct but meh)Originally Posted by _Mukas_
so you could have driven it further and gone into a spot which wasnt for reserved for disabled permit holders. and as said most towing companies run 24hrs, if you were really that worried about leaving the car you should have rung a tow truck at night
and i called the tow company at 10, didnt call me back till 1230 to say they are ready to get it, the ticket was issued at 12:27pm, thats right, half an hour before my car was towed...[/QUOTE]
it was a generalisation...Originally Posted by WiLo

given all the new evidence id have called mates to help shift it. failing that let the cops know there and then what happened. would have saved them the hassle of working it out, chances are they had already run the plates etc or had reports of that wrecked car halfway in a park.
why should i have let the cops know? it was only me involved... noone was around anyway...
