Those camera's don't pay for themselves.. If anything, someone should blow up those anonymous Tenix camera cars, hidden on roads, busting unsuspecting motorists..

It's run by the Tenix (private org), so there'd be no direct cost to taxpayers..

(I take no responsibility for people who actually blow those f*ckers up, but I will partake in the satisfaction)

The camera's shown in those photo's are most likely govt ones. The ones around Vic are funded by the state govt. So it's our GST paid etc that funds these vandals..

But the camera cars aren't tax payer funded..

Speed camers are simply revenue raisers, they work 24hrs without O/T, stand out in the cold and wet rain, dont complain and don't work as most people know thay are there.

They are not as effective as an SS sedan Hwy Patrol cruising the streets looking and catching speeders and showing a presence as a deterence to speeding, but they cost money.

Being booked buy a copper is a better way as it will instally turn you (for a few days) as you have been caught in the act, the sneaky hidden cameras they use in cars is also crap as motorist havent been punished at the seen of the crime not via the mail.

I'm not concerned with fixed speed cameras. Sure, some are unfairly placed, but in NSW you get no less than 3 warnings on approach. If your still speeding, you deserve to be caught. Handhelds are the ones I'm afraid of - not that I speed

And how do you think it wont cost taxpayers?

They would put the claim in for damages to the govt which in turn will be paid with taxpayers money...

Those Tenix people are giving employment to people that may have no other income. Every person in this country has a right to be employed, so removing an income from someone just cause many people cant control their right foot is stupid.
Do the crime, pay the fine. Its quite simple really.

its funny how people mention "oh thats gonna cost the taxpayers!!!"
how many people are there in aust? or vic for that matter?
a hell of a lot, at a maximum if speed camera's were torched every day we might lose a dollar...oh dear

no offence to those who said it, but in the long run it means jack all

i love riding past the mobile cameras on my bike and tormwnting the **** outta em, stop infront of em and wave at motorists etc, cameras in school zones etc where there is actually danger i absolutely am for, but not ones who sit on downhill strips and just bust people for being a few Ks over.

ive got a battery powered angle grinder, (big sucker) at work, im quite tempted to take to one of these revinue raisers with it, take the bastard home snd set it up and see what u can use on ur plates to make the camera not work.
or just to have one for a tropie

so true^^^^^^^^ if they werent revenue raisers, why dont they have a sign after the camera saying YOUVE BEEN CAUGHT! or something like that. because they are preying on motorists that dont know they are there. the fines usually take 1 month, which means i could speed through that same camera everyday for 1 month and not know it! it can also mean i could kill someone. if the gov wants to think about safety, i think they should do something along these lines.

I cant believe people are saying what they are saying.

Yes, they are revenue raisers, however, IF YOU DON'T SPEED THEY DON'T RAISE REVENUE. For ****s sake how hard is it to NOT break the law? If you get caught, it is no one elses fault but your own. I wish people would take some goddamn responsibility for their actions.

64 km/h is the difference between hitting someone and them living, and hitting someone and them dying...i am so over people who think they have a right to speed.

hang on a minute... i never said i speed and have been done by a camera, because i havent. i gives me the shites because the gov is more interested in money than the safety of the public, and its blatently obvious by the way the speed cameras are.

Are you an idiot? They are their to stop speeding and raise revenue. If people werent speeding they wouldnt raise revenue. I don't understand why people are so shitty against them.

For the mentally retarded follow this simple rule:

If you DO NOT SPEED, you WILL NOT be caught.

People think these things catch people randomly, all they do is catch people breaking the law. Don't break the law and you wont have to pay.

    No i don't think he's an idiot !!!!

Speed cameras are not as effective as a hwy patrol car showing it's presense at any spot at any time to catch the serious offenders,
not the average person driving at 108Km/h in a 100Km/h, they are not there to save lives as they don't detect drink drivers etc.

How will a camera stop a driver from speeding????, the fine is in your mail when you return home after 1 month, at an area you were on holidays at and probably won't be back there for sometime.

Had you seen about 3 HWY parol cars on your journey, i think that would actaully be a better deterent to speeding. cameras seem to slow a driver in an aera of about 100m.

    thankyou

its the fact that u can be done for doing 104 in a 100 zone thats shit, speedos r ment to be within 10% accutare, 104 isnt 10% of 100 so what if my speedo was inaccutate then u can be ****ed over by 2 laws that contradict themselves

watch how u talk to people minux

Actually, the 10% is just for manufacturers, it is YOUR responsibility to be sure your speedo is correct, no one elses. Holden use a 2% tolerance, ford use a 4%, in every ford and holden i have been in ranging from VN and EA through to current, this rings true.

So by that if you set to be on 100 in either car you are doing either 98 or 96, so wheres the problem? If you cant spare .01 of a second to glance at your speedo while checkign your mirrors liek you should, then personally you shouldnt be driving. If your foot control is that poor that you go from 100 to 104 then i suggest that either a. you get cruise control, or b. you install a speed alert.

Why do people always revert to this "average person doing 108 in a 100 zone",...it is stupid to think that you can so easily creep up to 10 km/h over the limit. So i will say again, no matter where you are int his world, if you observe while driving and are aware of speed signage, then there is no reason to creep over any speed limit. Granted it wont slow people down initially, but after 3 or 4 fines and a licence loss, it will certainly slow that person down. No different to a car pulling you over really.

Anyways, if you feel that 8 km/h will get you somewhere that much quicker, keep doing it. As long as we have people who thinkt hey have a right to speed, the longer our government will get rich from you
