Hi guys i wanna find out how to stop friggin telemarketers from ringing my houseAt the moment i am religiously recieveing phone calls from over seas companies everynight, how do i know there overseas?? Theres a pause at the start of the phone call from when you pick up the reveiver till when they start talking. The way im trying to combat this atm is just putting the phone down on the bench and walking away hoping and pleeding that they put me on the dont not call list
I know there just doing there job but for christ sake leave me alone. Now for the real reason of the thread i heard once not sure where (one of those TT, ACA 60 mins shows) that theres a phone number you can ring and get them stopped, i was wondering if anyone has heard of it or if it was a trial thing they were thinking bout doin?? Anyway ive had enuff, till i find something permanant i will keep putting the phone on the bench

Thanx in advance
Forgive me lord for i have sinned, I hit 4th gear jump5th gear pinned:b:
I normaly say:
"Look mate, I'll just get the missus, she normaly handles the financial side of things. I'll let her talk to you."
Then leave the phone and go back to what I was doing. Return and hang the handset back up after about ten miniutes. Works a treat, no more calls after that.
They are not allowed to ring businesses, so I just tell them that they have rung a business and if they ring again they will be reported as a nuisance caller. Works haven't had any call for ages.
thanx guys, these some good suggestions in the other thread!!
Cheers

We got a block placed on international calls for about 5 bucks a month. Apparently you can cancel it after a few months and be off their list.
Do as I do, ask to speak to a supervisor as your number is a unlisted number as you are in a witness protection program. Or tell them you are a Govt agent and they are going to be hunted down and charged by the Fed. Police.Originally Posted by brownie82
There is law going through the constitution or whatever CURRENTLY about putting this ban on, vnberlwagon, it's NOT currently available yet.
If you get one of these calls, particularly the Indian ones (not being racist, but they ARE Indians) give them the 30 seconds, be nice to them, and tell them to simply take your number on the "Not Interested catagory".
As previously stated, im a Telemarketer myself, and the Software we use to manage incoming calls, and the result of the call (Sale, Not Interested, Call Back.. etc etc) is worldwide software, so chances are they use the same stuff.
If you piss them off, and leave the phone on the table or whatever, they will simple re-schedule the call, and legally they are ALOWED to. Just let them know, and they will take you off the list.
i like having longgggggg convos with them, then tell them to piss off not interested
i wanna know where the money would go to if a business was fined for ringing you if you are on a do not call list. i think it should go to the person being called as compensation.
ECOTEC KICKED IN yO!!!!!!

it's good to actually talk to someone for longer than like 3 minutes, even if we're completely aware the "sale" won't go ahead.. it's better than listening to 15 answering machines, hangups in a row, then getting a "talkative" person!
I talk to them for ages but never buy anything
My mates a semi-cold caller for Telstra.. Selling products to existing customers or selling them upgrades.
He's monitored by time spent on each call.. He loves when people just leave their phone on the hook, because he goes and takes a break and his averages are driven up in the process..
i like putting on "old senile guy voice", then saying we used to have phones back before the war and stuff, they get a bit miffed, but carefully explain to me that i can have a phone again, then i pretend i cant hear them for a bit because the hearing aid is off and stuff, then let them talk a bit louder and longer, then usually wander off in a tangent how the wife died about 30 years ago...and they eventually give up
takes about 10-15 minutes tho and is thoroughly amusing
