Wrong section I know, but I'm looking for a second hand hdd, or if anyone has connections in the trade, let me know.
300gb would be ideal, good brand, western dig or seagate. 7200rpm.
Thanks
How much do you want to spend?
I can get Seagate 300gb for $200

MSY 250GB 8M IDE Seagate $116
Not sure what I want to spend yet - max 300. As big as I can get without going over 300 I guess.
I need as much as I can get..
But 200 sounds good so far minux, WiLo, thanks, but maybe too small at the moment- price makes it tempting though.
why not get 2 250gbs thats 1/2tb for less then 300 and run them as 1 drive
Has to be the one unit, It's for an external case that goes to my laptop via usb 2.0.
Laptops got 80gb partitioned, currently got an 80gb sitting in the hdd carrier, but its not big enough to handle iso's and the like.
So yeah, unfortunately one drive is all I can use.
All sorted I think, 500gb for 380..

What the hell??
How do fill up that much space? Graphic designers or video editors I understand.. But that's huge..
I dload a whole heap of shit and I can't use up my 120gb..
My music collection alone takes up 40gb.
C: with windows and all my other software takes up 25gb, leaving me with 15 or so on my main drive, for torrents etc before i transfer them to my other drive.
All my photo's, movies, games, software is on my 80, but thats getting close.
I've got about 30gb in iso files that are waiting to get written, but i've got 300gb of divx movies coming my way very soon.
and unfortunately i can't reveal my source on that price.. its all legit though, just cost price as far as i gather.
www.msy.com.au
I found that website thanks to a guy in finance at work (and I work in IT keep in mind). I'm sure they're selling stuff at not much over list price, very VERY cheap. WiLo mentioned them further up the page, but that's the website
good luck getting warranty at that price
i get all my stuff from MSY (Pascoe Vale). I would recommend it if you know what you want and it doesn’t matter what type of service you get.
Two things to be aware of if buying from msy (well at the branch i go to at least)
1. There is always a line... waiting in line for 30min is not unheard off..
2. Staff are not really helpful. They are rarely willing give advice. Its simply of case of :
"What do you want?"
"where's the money?"
"Get out"
So know what you want before you go in
paco msy has a sign up saying theyre not alowed to give advice, than again i dont think they have qualifications lolOriginally Posted by Propane

manufacturer's warranty, meaning when they go broke in 6 months you have to deal with the manufacturer direct...which is as much fun as getting an anal probe
if you cant tell, ive been in the pc industry too long
Seagate go broke or the place I'm getting it from?
Yeah i know, new customers may not know, thats why i mentioned itOriginally Posted by RedVB
In general the service there is pretty poor.
Last time i went i didn't bring the price list. i asked the guy working there if i could see his, to show him what i wanted, guy rolls his eyes at me... lol
Ahh well they are cheap, plus most products come with warranty.

im not saying these guys will go broke, im just making you aware of it so you dont get burnt, as when you have a number of hard drives from a bad batch or something that fail 12 months later, you dont want a nightmare getting them replaced
when you call the australian office for company X they go "nope, not imported to aus, you can burn in hell", when dealing with grey imported products
usually if the price is too good to be true it either is, the guys dont pay tax and will get shut down, or the service is completely non-existent
ive seen it happen to the majority of my competitors over the past 6 years...and im still in business!...albeit our prices are marginally higher than most stores, but i will bend over backwards to help if you buy something from me and have an issue
Yeah no worries, thanks.
