    Default My adventures last night!

This is sorta a rant, so if you want to look at useless crap.. continue:

Had a mate's 21st to go to last night, had half a tank of fuel.. so put 45 bucks in at a local servo..

Started the car up, put the car in 1st gear (auto).. go to the driveway and she was idling rough as guts, but consistant, not like it was gonna die. left the servo, giving it a bit of flack, no wheelspin or anything.. got half way up the road.. maybe 200meters, MAJOR EFFING POPPING NOISE as if there was MAJOR issues with the car!

Naturally, I pull over, hazzards and all.. ring a couple of mates to come give me a hand, this noise was like, full on I thought the engine had shit itself..

about 1/2 hour later, after ringing RACV/Mates etc organising a tow.. one of my mates looked under the bonnet in curiosity.. All I hear is "Trent, you're a effing d1ckhead"..

What had happened, was the #3 Spark plug had actually come OUT of the engine itself, while still solidly plugged into the lead Screwed it back into the engine, went to crank the car over.. and due to hazzards being on THE BATTERY DIED :b:

After cancelling the RACV Tow, mate of mine in his Ford Exploder.. I mean, Explorer came with a set of jumper leads, low and behold.. Issue Fixed..

I then took my car home, proceeded to my mates 21st, found out there was an open bar.. and got pissed

lol, sounds like a "moral of the story" to me.

check over engine every month or so, make sure plugs, hoses, leads, etc are all tight and not broken.

    but still damn funny.

as much as i never saw the explorer as useful, i saw one in geelong one day, had a 3 inch dump pipe on each side, sounded like a truck and almost lifted the fronts off moorable street... why oh why.!!!

dont feel bad, when my alternater charger cable died a mate helped out by sacrificing his audio cable for his sub to hobble me home. he drove a cortina.

sounds like a guy who came into work the other day. he went to leave and his car wouldn't start. he comes in all worried and freaking out that his car is stuffed. i go out and look under the bonnet and find the coil lead has snapped at the dizzy. $5 later and he was on his way. i was laughing at him though, freaking out and he didn't even look under the bonnet to see it was a simple lead.

it begs the question though....why did the spark plug come out of the engine?
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!

Cause my battery is rooted! Needs replacing, it holds up to start the car, but I can't have electrics on for too long.

i've had a similar problem but it was just one of the leads popping off, forget which cylinder, think it was the middle passenger side one

have had leads come off a couple of times. still scares me into thinking something major is about to fall off the engine.

about two weeks ago i was reversing out my drive, put it in first and was releasing the clutch than it went all sloppy and rough, i just assumed it was cold. 5 mins later i pull in the servo convinced i was driving a yank tank,
filled up opened the hood and lead to cyl one had shot off.put it back on and was perfect, no more 50 year old tractor motor.lol

i also have a ticking noise but i have accepted it is my old injectors that probobly need cleaning.

as i work 7 days... its abit hard to get it all done easy. Im good for a sat or sunday morning, i start at 11:30am... so if we start early, say 8, we can get it done by then. It shouldn't take long.

When you get it.. fit it where you want it, drill it in if you can and ill just help out with the wiring bit. Were gonna have to take your cluster out as we need to steal some wiring for the tacho sig...unless you can find that tacho sig wire but im sure thats a vn/vp thing. I think airstrike had to steal the tacho wire, well just do that. Anyway... so yeah. Sat/sun morning... sun's good cos i dont start till 1! heaps of time.

    let me know...

This sunday sounds do-able! taking the cluster out is no problem at all.. my Personal Best time for removing the glovebox, consoles, radio surround AND dash cluster (without breakages, and lost screws) is under 5 minutes! And in the dark too!

Anything I need apart from the Tacho, and the VR?
And i'm slightly un-decided on where to mount it, it's not going to be mounted on the A-Pillar, as my mate recently got canaried for having one there. Commy92's post in "Complete Shts And Giggles" attachment would be excellent, but being VR it's much more smoother dashlines!
